8. I Love You Too

All of the soldiers, including me, watched in awe as Eren carried that big boulder towards the hole.

"Looks like you guys did it," someone behind me said.

"Mikasa," I said.

"How did you guys do it? What did you say?" she asked.

"Oh, it was nothing important," I said nervously.

Armin smirked and said, "I'll tell you later Mikasa."

"Oh, ok I guess," Mikasa said.

"What are you all doing just standing there?" a voice called out behind me. It was Ian. "Get out there and protect the damn guy!"

The three of us did the salute, "Sir!"

I moved from rooftop to rooftop, following Eren, making sure no titans ever got close to him. I wonder how the others are doing. I hope they're ok, I don't wanna lose any of my friends today.

I overheard some soldiers talking, "What are they doing? They're crazy."

I looked over to where the hole was, and saw a bunch of soldiers on the ground, trying to keep the titans away from Eren. They are crazy.

"C'mon," Mikasa said. I watched as she jumped off the rooftop, landed on the ground, and ran in front of Eren, leading him to the hole. Armin did the same, and ran alongside her.

Alright, they're both crazy. I stood there for a moment, zoning out. Maybe... I'm crazy too. I jumped off the rooftop, and followed behind Eren.

I looked around and saw as soldiers were being devoured by the titans. I tried to ignore them and kept following Eren. Just a couple steps more, c'mon Eren.

I watched Eren take his final steps towards the hole. I could feel everyone else who was still alive was watching him too.

Just then, Eren did this huge roar before setting the boulder down in the hole. No way. He did it...

Eren suddenly collapsed, and smoke started coming out of the carcass. I immediately went over to Eren to get him out of there.

"L/n, hold up!" Rico shouted to me.

I ignored her and got to Eren. His upper half was already out of the titan body. I crouched down behind him, put my arms under his underarms, and tried to get him out. Rico, Armin, and Mikasa surrounded Eren and I, as I tried to get his unconscious ass out of here.

"Y/n!" Armin shouted. "Hurry, the titans are coming!"

"I can't! It's like he's fused to the damn thing!" I shouted back at him, still desperately trying to get him out.

Just then, I heard the sound of someone's swords being drawn out. I looked over at Rico and saw that she was the one who pulled out her swords.

"Hold on," I said. "Just what do you plan on doing?!"

"The only thing that'll get him out of there," she replied. She then slowly raised her swords to cut the strands of flesh that connected Eren to his titan body.

"Be careful!" Mikasa shouted.

I guess I should've stopped pulling because Rico cut through the flesh and Eren and I went flying back.

"Y/n," Eren muttered.

"Eren?!" I practically shouted. "You're awake?"

"Mmmmm," he replied. I guess he was sort of half awake, half asleep. "I love you too." he said before going unconscious again.

My eyes widened at what he had just said and my face was a blushing mess. "Eren? Wh-what did you just say?"

"Y/n! Eren!" Mikasa said, coming towards us. "Are you guys ok?"

"Yea," I replied. "We're fine."

"Then why is your face all red? You land on your face or something?" Mikasa asked.

"N-no! Of course not!" I said.

"Then why-" she started.

"Titans incoming!" Rico interrupted, still on top of the titan body. "Get Eren out of here! I'll take care of it."

Before Mikasa and I even had a chance to move, someone came in and took out the titans himself. He was so fast, I didn't have time to react. He stood on the dead titan carcass he just took down and looked back at us.

Eren moved a little, so I guess he woke up again. I looked at him as he moved his head upwards to look at the man who just took down those titans.

Just then the man said, "What's going on? Wanna tell me exactly what I'm looking at?"

I looked at his green cape and noticed what looked like wings on it. That must be it. The wings of freedom.
