12. Hange Comes for a Visit

"What is this?" I said, spitting out the horrible liquid I just drank.

"It's tea," Captain Levi said. "What? Don't like it?"

"No, it's disgusting!" I said.

"Well too bad," Captain Levi replied. "From now on, that's all you'll be drinking."

"Great," I sighed.

All of a sudden there was this "bump" noise at the door. "Ow!" a voice said. Someone was at the door.

Even though he was sitting right in front of the door, Captain Levi didn't bother to open it. Instead, Petra got up and opened the door.

"Hello everyone! How are you all doing?" It was Hange at the door. I see she's still the same optimistic, loud, and cheerful person from before. "Eren, Y/n! It's so good to see you! I hear you two are dating now!"

How does she know that?!

"Um, yeah," I replied.

"Congrats! But I didn't come here to talk about that," She then walked over to Eren and got kind of close to him. "I'm here for him." Her face got all serious as she said that.

"What exactly do you mean by that?" Eren asked, clearly uncomfortable.

Hange grabbed Eren's hand and said, "I'd like to talk about your titan!"

"M-my titan?" Eren replied nervously.

"Yes! While I'm here, we'll be conducting lots of experiments on your titan! We'll need you for the upcoming expedition," Hange said.

"Upcoming expedition?" I asked.

"Yes, Erwin is brewing up some plan to get to Wall Maria." Captain Levi replied.

"We didn't tell you, but we're planning to go back to my basement at my old house," Eren said, holding up the key that was around his neck.

"Huh, I've always wondered what that key was for," I said.

"My dad said that our basement holds all the secrets of the titans," Eren said.

"Really?!" I said. "In your basement, the entire time... and you only find out now?! When Shiganshina is overrun by titans?!"

"Well, in my defense, my dad never let me in that basement because it was too "dangerous." Eren replied.

Dangerous? What is he hiding in there? A titan?!

"I see," I said. "So we go to your basement, and that's supposed to... what? Help us kill every titan?"

"Well, we don't exactly have all the details yet on what we're gonna do," Hange said. "So, for now we're gonna train Eren to do his very best while Erwin comes up with a plan."

"Ok, I have my doubts about this, but let's give it a go," I said.

"That's the spirit!" Hange replied.

"Say Eren, when did you find out about your abilities?" Hange asked, taking a seat at the other end of the table.

Eventually, everyone ended up leaving the room. It was just Eren, Hange, and I.

"It's getting pretty late," I said, standing up. "I should get some sleep."

"Oh, ok!" Hange said. "Night!"

"Night," I replied.

I was almost at the door when Hange said, "Wait!"

"Yes?" I said, looking back at her.
