I Can't Lose You [Eren Yeager x Reader]

7. No Control

I was with Eren, Mikasa and the other Elite Squad members. We were running along the top of the wall, we were headed towards the huge boulder.

"So cadets," Rico said. "You really think this plan will work?"

"Of course it will," I replied. "I mean, it has to. Otherwise we'll never win against the titans."

"Up ahead," Ian Dietrich said. He was the one leading our squad. "There's the boulder."

"Y/n," Eren said. "Good luck."

"Thanks," I replied. "You too."

"That goes for you too," Eren said to Mikasa.

"Thanks," she replied. "But you're the one who needs luck here. The survival of humankind rests on your shoulders."

"Well, I don't need luck," he said. "I have you and y/n protecting me. I'm not worried at all."

I blushed at what Eren just said.

"Yeager, get to the boulder already," Rico said. "We're waiting."

"Oh right, sorry," Eren said.

Eren then jumped down the wall, and we followed him. He then bit his hand, and this bright yellow light surrounded him. When it cleared up, a huge titan appeared. I was amazed at what I was watching. When Eren was on the ground, I saw him walk towards the boulder and then just stop.

"What's wrong?" Mitabi shouted at Eren. "Pick up the damn boulder already!"

He wasn't responding. "Eren!" I shouted. "Are you there?"

He then turned towards us, and tried to punch us. Luckily, we all managed to dodge it. Pieces of the roof we were standing on scattered everywhere.

"Damn it! This mission is a bust!" Rico said. She then grabbed her flare gun. It looked like she was going to shoot a red flare. It meant that the mission didn't work out.

"Rico! Wait!" I said. "I think I can get him to snap out of it!"

"And how do you plan on doing that?" Mitabi said.

I went up to Eren and clung onto his face. "Hey! Eren! It's me y/n!"

He just looked at me, not doing anything.

"Eren! Snap out of it!" I shouted.

Suddenly, his hand balled into a fist.

"Y/n! Get out of there!" Mikasa shouted at me.

I got away just in time, and Eren ended up punching his own face. He fell backwards and just sat there, leaning on the boulder.

"Eren!" Mikasa shouted. "What the hell was that? Are you trying to kill your future girlfriend?!"

I shot Mikasa a dirty look.

"What?" Mikasa responded.

"This isn't the time to be making jokes," I said, blushing. "Right now, we need to focus on protecting Eren until he recovers."

"I agree," Ian said.

"10 meter titan on the left!" Mitabi shouted.

"Two more on the right!" Rico said. "One is 12 meters, and the other is 9 meters."

"Alright listen up! Right now we have to protect Eren until he wakes up!" Ian shouted. "Mikasa and Y/n, take the titan on the left, Rico and Mitabi, you take the titans on the right."

"Sir!" we all shouted.

And with that, we all spread out to take down any titans that were coming towards Eren.

About half an hour had passed, and the titans were still coming. There were so many, I couldn't have possibly done this without the help of Mikasa.

"Hey!" I heard someone shout. It was Armin, he was standing on top of Eren's lifeless body, near his nape. "Y/n, Mikasa, what happened? Why did the plan go belly-up?"

"It's Eren," I shouted back at him, standing on a rooftop. "He went into a rage, knocked himself out, and now he's just lying there."

"We're protecting him until he wakes up." Mikasa said.

Armin looked down at Eren, and then he pulled out his sword.

"A-Armin!" I stuttered. "What are you doing?!"

"This is the only way we'll get him to snap out of it!" Armin said.

Mikasa and I watched as Armin slowly brought his sword above his head.

"Y/n," Mikasa said. "There's a titan heading this way."

I looked to where I heard huge footsteps coming this way. "Shit," I muttered. I then looked at Mikasa and said, "I'll take it down,"

"No, it's best if you stay here with Eren." she replied.

"Are you sure?" I asked, looking into her eyes.

"Yes," she said. "You have to be here for him when he wakes up. And plus, you have to watch Armin and make sure he doesn't do anything to hurt him."

Just then we heard a loud roar. We looked in Eren's direction and noticed that Armin had struck his sword into Eren's nape. "Guess I'm too late," I jokingly said.

"Ugh, Armin," Mikasa groaned.

"Don't worry I'll keep them both safe." I reassured her.

She nodded her head and was about to go for the titan when I grabbed her arm and said, "Good luck."

She looked back at me and said, "Thanks, you too."

She then went off and took down the titan.

I looked back at Armin, and I could see that he was trying to talk to Eren or something. I went over to stand on the boulder and said, "Armin? What are you doing?"

He looked up at me and replied, "I'm trying to get Eren to wake up," After a moment he said, "Y/n, I think you should be the one to do it."

"What?" I asked. "Why me? You've known him since you guys were just kids, you should be the one to do it."

"Y/n, I may have known Eren since we were kids, but you know him more than anyone else," he responded.

I thought for a moment, looking down at my feet. "Ok, i'll try at least."

I went over to Eren and kneeled down on where his nape was. "Hey Eren," I started. What should I say? I haven't really thought about this.

"Eren please, if you're in there, wake up," I said. "We need you, I need you, we're all depending on you, to plug that hole up."

Again, there wasn't a response. I hung my head as tears formed in my eyes. "Eren, wake up. You have to... because," I murmured. "I love you."
