10. Eren's Trial

Things are going downhill, really quickly.

We all watched as a Military Police Soldier pointed his gun at Eren.

"What was that Rico?!" I whispered to her.

"What?" she replied, not even looking in my direction.

"Why would you tell the judge what happened before?! We all know that Eren didn't mean it! He wasn't acting like himself!"

"What did you want me to do? Lie to him?!"

I looked at her angrily as the room got louder. Everyone started talking over each other, arguing over Eren.

Just then Captain Levi of the Scouts stood up. The room fell silent as he walked over to Eren.

"Hey," I mumbled.

I watched in shock as Captain Levi beat the shit out of Eren. "What are you doing?!" I practically screamed.

Mikasa looked like she was gonna blow a top. She was about to head over there to try and stop Levi herself, but Armin grabbed her arm.

"Mikasa don't!" Armin said.

I could hear the muffled voices of everyone in the room as Levi continued to beat Eren up. No one dared to intervene.

Once Levi finished, Dhalis Zachary asked, "Are you done?"

Captain Levi held Eren up by his hair and replied, "I think he's had enough,"

Eren was covered in blood and bruises, it was hard to look at him in that state.

"I propose an idea," Erwin Smith said. He was the commander of the Scouts. "How about we let Eren join the scouts, he could be quite useful. He'll be a part of Levi Squad and they'll watch over him. If he tries to transform without permission, he'll be killed immediately."

"Very well, are you ok with this?" he said, turning to look at Nile Dawk, the commander of the Military Police.

"I guess," he replied kind of softly.

"What was that?" Zachary said.

Nile cleared his throat and said, "I mean, it is fine with us."

"Well then, it is settled," Zachary said. He then ended the trial and we were free to go.

"Alrighty, let's go Eren," Captain Levi said as everyone started to get up and leave. He then uncuffed him and was about to take him out of the room when I stopped them.

"Can I..." I paused for a second. I just realized who I was talking to.

"What is it?" Captain Levi said, he looked kind of annoyed.

"Can I... speak to Eren?" I asked, nervously.

"You'll have plenty of time to speak to him later," the voice came from behind me. It was Erwin Smith.

"I- uh," I couldn't think of anything to say.

"Just for a while," Eren said.

"Um, yeah," I agreed.

"Your name is Y/n L/n correct?" Erwin said.

"Yes," I responded.

"You were planning on joining the Scouts from the start right?" Erwin asked.

I was confused on how he knew about that. "Yes sir."

"Well how about you join the Scouts for the time being," he said.

"Really?!" Eren and I said in unison.

"Sure," he replied. "You can be a part of Levi Squad with Eren."

My face beamed a smile as he said that. "Thank you sir! You won't regret it!"

"Tch," was all I heard from Levi.

I looked at Eren as he smiled at me.

"But of course," Erwin continued. "You will have to prove that you are good enough. After all, I am recruiting you earlier than all the other cadets."

"She is good enough," Eren said, putting a hand on my shoulder. "I know she is."

I looked back at Eren and said, "Thanks,"

"Can we get going?" Captain Levi said. "We're supposed to meet up with Hange and Moblit."

"Oh right," Erwin replied. "Let's go. Y/n, Eren, please come with us."

I looked back at Armin and Mikasa, they looked at us confused.

"Hey, can I go talk to my friends?" I asked the commander. "Only for like, five minutes."

"Of course," he replied. "We will be in that room over there."

"Ok, thanks!" I said. I then walked over to where Mikasa and Armin were.

"Where are you and Eren going?" Armin asked.

"Oh, the commander said that Eren and I could join the scouts!" I replied.

"Really?!" Mikasa said. "Hey, say hi to Eren for me."

"Yea me too," Armin said.

"Of course!" I replied. "I gotta go now, see ya!"

"Bye!" Armin and Mikasa said in unison.

I then went back to where the commander said they would be. I stood at the doorway, not knowing if I should knock or just come right in.

Eventually, I knocked on the door, and walked in right after.

"Oooh, who's this?" A woman said. She had dark brown hair, light brown eyes, and had glasses on.

"This is Y/n, L/n," Erwin said. "Y/n, this is Hange Zoe and Moblit Berner."

"Hi," I said, not knowing what else to say.

"Hello Y/n! It's lovely to meet you!" Hange said.

"Yes, nice to meet you," Moblit said.

"It's nice to meet you too," I replied.

"Y/n will be a part of Levi Squad along with Eren," Erwin said. "I'm sure she has the potential to become a proper scout."

"That's great!" Hange beamed.

"Yea," I said. I looked at Erwin, bowed my head and said, "Thank you for this opportunity."

"It's my pleasure," Erwin said.

Though, I still have no idea why I of all people was chosen to become a scout earlier than everyone else. People who were ranked higher than me, like Mikasa or Annie, should be in my place. They're way better and stronger than me.

"We should get going," Captain Levi said.

"Yes, you all should go on ahead," Erwin said. "I'd like to speak to Y/n."

I immediately turned my head in Erwin's direction. Talk to me?! The author knows this is an Eren x reader right?! Why does Commander Erwin want to talk to me?

"Sure! C'mon let's go!" Hange said.

They then all walked out of the room, and I took a seat on the couch that was in the room. "So, why did you want to talk to me?"

"It's about..." he said. He hesitated a moment before saying, "It's about your father."

"My dad?" I asked, confused. "What does he have to do with any of this?"

"He's a really good friend of mine," he continued. "He told me about the hardships he and his daughter suffered after the attack on Shiganshina. He said he was proud of you when you said you wanted to be a Scout."

"Really?" I asked.

"Of course, why wouldn't he be proud of you?" Erwin replied.

I smiled at him as he continued, "That's why when I saw you, I wanted to recruit you."

"Thank you so much for this! You won't regret it, I promise!" I said.

"I know I won't," the commander said, smiling at me. "Anyway, let's catch up to Eren and the others, you wanted to talk to him right?"

"Yea," I replied as we walked out of the room.
