2. Is It Love?

It's been two years since we first joined the cadet corps, and we're getting pretty close to graduating. I've gotta say I really enjoyed joining the cadets. It's been really fun. I've gotten to know almost everyone.

Right now, we're working on our ODM gear training, and at the same time we are working on taking down some fake titans. I seem to be doing ok, but I know that taking down actual titans will be even harder.

As soon as we finished up, Eren came up to me. "You did great today." he said.

"Thanks," I said, blushing a bit. "I wasn't that good as Mikasa."

"True, she's really good at this stuff." he said. "But you did a lot better than me at least. I still can't cut deep enough."

"Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it." I said smiling.

"Thanks y/n." Eren said, smiling back at me.

These past two years, Eren and I have gotten closer. I'm not sure if I like him. I have very mixed feelings about him. There are some times when I think of him as some suicidal maniac, like all the others call him. I mean... who wouldn't? All Eren is focused on is slaughtering all the titans. But, other than that he's a really nice guy that's just trying to protect his friends.

After a while, the top ten cadets were announced:

I still can't believe I got 7th place. But honestly, I would've liked to rank a bit higher. Not that 7th place isn't any good. It's a lot better than not even making the top ten.

We were in the dining hall celebrating. We were going to graduate tomorrow. I was so excited that I ate my food so quickly that I nearly choked.

I was drinking some water when Eren suddenly stood up. He shouted something and angrily went outside. I saw Mikasa and Armin following him outside. I wanted to see if he was ok, so I followed them out. When I went outside, I saw all three of them sitting on the steps.

"Hey y/n." Armin said.

"Hey." I replied.

"Do you wanna sit with us?" Eren asked.

"Sure." I said as I sat next to Eren, bushing a bit.

"So, what happened in there?" I asked.

"It's nothi-" Eren began.

"He got all mad when someone tried talking to him about how dangerous the scouts are." Mikasa interrupted.

"You could have worded that a different way." Eren muttered under his breath.

"Listen Eren," I said. "If you wanna join the scouts, then go ahead, I won't stop you. Mostly because I wanna join the scouts too. But, you already know what those monsters are like. I just wanna make sure that you are ready to face them. I'm prepared to face them and die if I have to."

Eren thought for a moment. "I am too." he said. "I just wanna be able to take back Wall Maria and go home."

"Yeah," Armin said.

"Well ok then, we'll take back Wall Maria and go home, then we'll take down all the titans." I said, smiling at him.

"Alright, sounds like a plan to me." Eren said, smiling back at me. "We'll go there together."

"Yeah" I said, blushing a bit.

"Hey y/n," Mikasa said to me when we were walking back inside.

"Yea?" I replied.
