I Can't Lose You [Eren Yeager x Reader]

23. Accusations

Yea um, I have no idea what to name this chapter.  Does anyone still read this anyway?

We met up with Jean and a few other soldiers and gathered around a table.
   
“We managed to get some background information on Annie Leonhart,”  Hange said.  “We found three people from the same village as her, Reiner Braun, Bertholdt Hoover, and…”  Hange paused for a moment and looked at me.  “Y/n L/n.”
   
Suddenly, all eyes were on me.  “L/n, do you know Leonhart?” a soldier asked.
   
“Only from the cadet corps, yeah,”  I replied.  “I never knew her before that.”
   
“Are you sure?”  Levi asked.  “Have you ever even just seen her at all?”
   
“No… I’m certain there wasn’t a person or even a family with the Leonhart name,”  I replied.  “Ask my father, he knew everyone in the village.”
   
“What about the other two?”  Levi asked.
   
“Well I've only seen them once… but I never actually met or talked to them.  I only talked to them in the cadet corps…”  I said.
   
“Where have you seen them?”  a soldier asked.
   
“After the fall of Wall Maria… I saw two kids that looked like them, they were listening to the announcement that the soldier was making.”  I replied.  “And just like Annie… I’ve never seen them at the village before.”  I could tell that everyone was still suspicious of me, but they eased up a little.
   
“Listen guys,”  Eren said.  He grabbed my hand and intertwined my fingers with his.  “I’m sure Y/n is telling the truth.  Plus, I’m sure Reiner and Bertholdt aren't on Annie’s side either.”
   
“Well there was this thing that happened during the 57th expedition that I can’t get out of my head…”  Armin said.
   
“What is it?”  Mikasa asked.
   
“When my group and I came across the female titan… Reiner tried to take her down.  She crushed him in her hand, but he managed to get out.  When he did, the female titan looked at her hand… as if something was carved into it.  Then… the female titan started running towards Eren’s direction.”  Armin said.
   
“Are you saying that Reiner basically gave Eren’s position to Annie?”  Mikasa asked.
   
“Yes,”  Armin replied.  “I only said Eren’s position because Reiner was the one who brought him up in the first place.”
   
My eyes widened at everything Armin was saying.  Could Reiner and Bertholdt really be on Annie’s side?
   
“Guys c’mon!”  Eren said.  “This is Reiner and Bertholdt we’re talking about.  I”m sure they’re not with Annie!”
   
“Maybe Eren’s right,”  Mikasa said.  “I’ve never really seen them talk to Annie at all, and when they did talk it was rather short.”
   
“You’re probably just in denial,”  I said.  “Maybe they are traitors, who knows?”  I don’t really have control over what I’m saying anymore.  It’s probably because of this stupid fever.
   
“Y/n…”  Eren said.
   
“Those two are on the frontlines right now, we’ll question them later,”  Hange said.  “Right now let’s head out to the battlefield.”
   
We all got ready to leave and head out to the battlefield.  I still had a fever, which felt like it was getting worse by the minute.  But I kept quiet.  It didn’t stop my thoughts from running wild though.
   
What if Reiner and Bertholdt are traitors like Annie?  If they’re like Annie, could they be titan shifters too?  Wait… what if they are the-
   
“Y/n!”  Eren said, shaking my shoulder.  “Are you ok?”
   
“I’m fine,”  I replied, weakly smiling at him.  Before he could say anything I said, “I promise to get lots of rest after this, and I’ll tell you if I’m feeling bad.”
   
“Yeah I know, you promised me that already,”  Eren replied.
   
I did?  My memory is a bit hazy.
   
“I just, don’t trust that you’ll keep that promise.”  Eren said.
   
I slowly put my arms around Eren, and he responded by doing the same thing.  I looked at him and said,  “Please don’t worry about me.”
   
“I can’t promise that,”  Eren chuckled, putting his head on mine.
   
I smiled and nuzzled my face in his chest.  
   
“C’mon brats,”  Captain Levi said.  Eren loosened his grip around me, shocked by Captain Levi.  “We’re all ready to go.”
   
“Right,”  we said.

   
We then got on our horses and rode through the gate once again, nervous about what we might be facing.

Sorry for another short chapter.  I realized that I should've put this chapter and last chapter together but I'm lazy. So I'm posting two chapters today lolz. Thanks for reading anyway.
