chapter nine.
"The Kiss That Didn't Happen."

After a fifteen minute drive that felt like multiple hours Lilith pulls into the back parking lot of the animal clinic where Scott works. As she turns her car off she receives a text from Stiles informing her that a late night train has stopped him so it'll take longer to get to them than he was originally expecting. Once putting her phone in her pocket she opens her car door to get out, help Derek, then find the keys; she gets stopped and pulled back into the car. Using what little strength Derek has left, he reaches over into the back seat, grabs his leather jacket, and hands it to Lilith wanting her to wear it, so she can cover herself up for when Scott and Stiles eventually arrive- not wanting them to get any wrong ideas.

"You're covered in blood, please just put it on." He says using some-what of a demanding voice.

Lilith cautiously takes the jacket out of Dereks hands, and slips it on; his arms being longer than hers, leaving extra room that covers her hands. "Uhm, thank you." She awkwardly says, giving him a small smile.

Without much of another thought she gets out of her car, and goes around to the other side so she can help Derek get out- knowing he needs help to stand, let alone walk.

He felt useless compared to her.

Someone who was born a powerful being, with ultra senses now as close as he'll ever be to a puny human; something that couldn't even cary more than 100 pounds without practice. He was miserable, and felt pathetic.

The pair carefully walk towards the back door, Lilith setting Derek down on the ground - with his back against the wall - allowing her to look for the key without having to keep Derek from falling. By the time she finds the key Derek begins to slowly drift off into a small slumber, waiting for her to be done. She rushes back towards him, and wraps her arms around his waist to give him all the support he needs to walk into the clinic.

As time goes by, the pain gets worse. His heart goes from rapidly beating, to beating slowly within seconds; his breathing deepens and gets heavy, making it seem as if his final minutes were coming to a end. Dereks breathing begins to slow down, and go back to its normal calm pace as he tries to focus on anything but the pain he was feeling. That something being Lilith's touch.

Lilith drops the keys out of her hand, and on to the floor, not caring where they land. She walks towards a small table, it being something that Derek can grip on to to help him stand; something that wasn't Lilith. Once he was stable enough to hold himself up - using the table - Lilith helps him pull his shirt off and toss it to the ground, revealing his very fit and toned torso and chest. Despite the large amount of pain he was feeling, Lilith slowly slides her hand down his arm; the pair locking eyes for only a second before she turns away, looking at anything but him.
