chapter twenty three.
"Isaac Lahey."

The young red haired girl harshly gets woken up by her older sister. It starts with just her lights getting turned on, but when she moves her blankets above her head to block out the light they impolitely got tugged off her body and tossed onto the ground. After what feels like twenty minutes of Lydia attempting to wake up Lilith, the youngest gives in and allows her sister to drag her out of her room and into the eldests room. Lilith lays on her stomach, on her sister's bed - half awake - while Lydia digs through her closet trying to pick out the "perfect" outfit to wear on her first day back at school since everything that's happened to her. Many minutes later - 48 minutes to be exact - Lydia finally chooses what outfit she'll be wearing to school that starts in an hour. She looks at herself in the mirror- there she wears a short purple colored dress, paired with a long gold necklace, heeled boots, and a tan leather jacket just in case she gets cold. With a few words of approval from Lilith, the youngest sister leaves her room so she can get ready for the day- Lydia following her as she hasn't left her side since she's gotten back from the hospital and roaming the woods for two days.

Once the twins fully finish getting ready for the day they say goodbye to their mother, and leave for school. Being as Lydia hasn't driven in nearly a week - due to the hospital and roaming the woods - she insists on driving both herself and Lilith to school, not planning on taking no as an answer.

Both the twins and Allison pull into the school parking lot at the same time, choosing to park right next to each other. They grab their belongings and leave their cars together, wanting to be with Lydia when she steps her first foot into the school, knowing people will look at her differently.

"You really don't remember anything?" Allison turns to ask Lydia. The three girls take their time walking to the school, and up the steps leading into it. Lydia stands in the middle of the two girls- Allison to her right and Lilith to her left.

"They called it a fugue state, which is basically a way of saying "we have no idea why you can't remember running through the woods naked for two days" but personally, I don't care. I lost 9 pounds." Lydia says. She holds her arms out and does a small spin, showing Allison that she did in fact lose weight.

"Are you sure you're ready for this?"

"Please." Lydia scoffs. "It's not like my aunts a serial killer."

Lydia gives Allison a small innocent smile before turning towards the main doors, she pulls them open, and walks into the school, leaving Allison and Lilith still outside. Lilith turns to her right where Allison is standing just to see her looking down at the ground, thinking of what Lydia had said.

"Are you okay?" Lilith softly asks.

Allison quickly looks over to Lilith. "What? Yeah, I'm fine." She looks away from Lilith and pushes multiple strands of hair behind her ear, moving them out of her face.
