Chapter 20

Nerissa Davids

I get home after school today infuriated. I think infuriated is an understatement. I get home and finish some homework just so I can get that out of the way.

After I finish my homework I decide to call Sam. I don't think I'm going to sleep if I'm not answered. 

On the call with Sam

"Hi babe" he said
"Sam I need to talk to you" I said quickly.
"Woahh no Hi?" He said jokingly
"I'm sorry. Hi Sam. But this is urgent and I need to talk to you. But we're not going to do it over the phone, I actually need to see you" I said
"Well it's 8 pm and kinda late. Can it wait?" He asked.
"No it actually cant. Meet me by the ugly  McDonald's by that wierd street" I said
"OK I'll be there in 10" he said and I cut the call.

I'm going to find out what is going on.

I tell my uncle I'm meeting up with a friend and that I will be back soon.
I get to the McDonald's and Sam is already there. 

"Hi nerissa" he goes in for a hug and I hug him back.
"Hey Sam. Sorry I rushed you but I really need to ask you something" I say. Both of us pulling away.
"Go ahead. What is this about?"
I pause and speak.
"It's about Axel"
"Mhm what is it?" He asked.
"Sam earlier today I saw Axel's shirt with a blood stain. What is that? Why is it there?"  I asked
He was silent. He said nothing.
"Come on Sam. I need to know"
"Nerissa the world Axel and I live in is dangerous." He said. I kept quiet and let him continue.

"Axel owns a cartel called the Alleyway Mafia of America. I help run it as well. A lot of illegal shit happens there including possession of drugs and exporting them and well- murder" he said
I lool at him shocked. I knew Axel was dangerous but not this dangerous! I'm shocked.

"I hope you don't look at us differently" he said
"Well obviously I do. I mean you confessed about being in a cartel. I have to admit I'm not shocked. My dad has worked with people like you before."
He paused and then spoke-
"Yeah- your dad worked with Axel and he dint pay a large amount of money back to him. And so he has them locked up in a cellar by his mansion HQ. Lord knows if they're still alive"
That explains a lot.
"Woah- that explains a lot"
"Nerissa this is very confidential."
"I will never spill. I'm not that kind of  person. I just wanted to know what happened with the splash of blood and where my parents are."
I paused before speaking again.
"Do you think the splash of blood was my parents'?" I asked
"No. It wasn't. That's Axel's story to tell. But they weren't your parents" 
I nodded.

"Thanks for telling me Sam." I said
"Axel will probably be mad" I added
"Nah. He knows you're questioning me"
I just shrug.
"Oh well at least you're gonna be ok" I say.
We hug before we say our goodbyes and leave.

I knew Axel was dangerous. I just knew something wasn't being laid out in the open with me. And now I know that he's keeping my parents. I want to ask to see them. But I also want to put them behind me and move on.

No. To move on, you need closure. So I'm going to go see them. Rotting in a cell. For my satisfaction. For closure. To know that I'm definitely safe now.
