There wasn't enough alcohol in this house to settle her nerves right now.

It was in that living room, did Greta Abney sit both overjoyed and lingering with envy.

Today, her best friend, Lulu Austin, had just announced her pregnancy. And not only did she get passed for the wondrous position of Godmother, but it was granted to her little sister, Cora instead.

There were numerous reasons why of course, given everything she's gone through in the last four months, both revealed and rumored to everyone other than her sibling. And she wasn't too upset about it, just stunned. Or maybe just a little underwhelmed. But today wasn't about her.

Today was about her business partner, Kelly who, after years of stringing Lulu along on their will they/won't they game like an overly drawn-out plot to a stupendously gay drama on the CW, is finally enjoying the happy allure of motherhood.

All the while, Greta remained there in that chair, buzzed, single, and horny enough to finally consider Lulu and Kelly's teasing proposition of being in some kind of throuple.

She can make that work, right? Get a haircut? Listen to some Tegan & Sara? Wear a lot of flannel? Would she have it in her to drive a Subaru, though?

"You're doing that thing again."

Snapped back to the reality of things, Greta was interrupted from her inner thoughts by Cora. Her eyes were of an alternation of blue and green that pierced even sharper from her already no-nonsense veneer, easily given off by the way her blonde hair was always tied into some kind of ponytail whenever she wasn't relaxed.

And as much as Greta has seen her, she's never relaxed.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Greta said, walking away from the bustle of people in the living room to find wherever Kelly kept the fancier wine in her house.

Then, Cora reiterated. "You're doing that over-thinking thing. Y'know, where you live inside your head and pretend to have an entirely private conversation with that little voice of yours?"

"How do you know I'm not just trying to enjoy myself?" And when Greta shut another liquor-less cabin, she huffed and rolled her eyes. "Lulu must've gotten rid of all the good shit. How the hell am I supposed to be satisfied with just cider?"

"What? Today's not about getting drunk, it's about Lulu."

"If you wanted it to be all about Lulu, then you should've left me on the couch to play Animal Crossing."

Cora satisfied her remark with only a smug grin before leaning against the kitchen counter from where they isolated themselves.

Greta turned back to get a good look at her sister, already having enough of the serious, care-taker vibe she was putting on. "Coraline Abney you and I both know that you could be having so much fun someplace else. You're at a pregnancy announcement on a Friday afternoon and we're the only straight people here. Don't you just wanna go out and do something crazy tonight?"
