It felt so strange returning home now.
Closing the door, Cora brought herself back to the loft. But being here felt like landing on her home planet, away from strangers, from lavishly lustful nights and the escape she's been craving for weeks.
She'll miss Marcus, that's for sure. And since she didn't take his number down, nor did she fully remember just where his place was, returning to relieve such a vivid memory had now been diminished to just that, a memory.
While at first she had hoped to arrive unnoticed, it was from upstairs, where the door to Greta's bedroom had opened. And from it, her sister was clung to Eli's back, singing with uneven pitches, "I'm off the deep eeeend! Watch as I diiive iiin...".
Carrying her down the stairs, it seemed as though Eli found relief once she hopped off his back and found her footing on the ground. And from her laughter, a much more dry, bored expression had befell over her face as they both saw Cora standing there near the kitchen.
Nervously, the younger sister waved to the pair, and Eli smiled at her. "Wassup girl? Ignore her, she been singin' this shit since we woke up." And instantly, Greta couldn't help her laughter as she slapped his chest.
"Hey, Eli." Greeted Cora, then she looked onward at her sibling. There was nothing but awkwardness in the tether of their connective stares. Neither of the two knew just what to do now that they were back in each others spaces again.
While Cora was lost in conflict, Greta remained on the edge of a frenzy, still not lost from her annoyance of her sister after yesterday.
Then, just before the ice could truly solidify itself, Eli thought to break it. Or at least escape from its residual damage. "A'ight, the silence is killin' me, so I'mma let y'all handle that."
Desperately, Greta's fingers snagged on the helm of his v-neck. "Wait, wait wait!"
"Aye, c'mon. What I say?" He said to her softly. But as she wrapped her arms around his neck, she fed him a soft plea with every gesture her face could come with before he kissed her nose and then her forehead. "Don't go makin' her think you hate her."
With a huff, she complied. "Fine..." She took his hand then, walking him to the door. "I'll see you tonight?"
"Nah, you'll see me this afternoon."
"Even better." Smiled Greta. "Have a good day at work."
"You too, girl. In a minute, Lil' sis."
