By the time Dana had gone home, it was late. Several stories about Kelly, and three episodes of The Bachelor later, Eli had cleaned up what he could of the living room before he departed to go wash the dishes.
Lying there on that couch, Greta was half asleep. And when Eli returned, she welcomed him with open arms before he lifted her off the couch and carried her up the stairs. "I had a good night tonight." She whispered to him in satisfaction, not expecting the smugness in his tone when he responded.
"Yeah, I know."
She giggled tiredly then, and found her back into the mattress before he sat along the edge of it. "You should stay with this weekend." She suggested. "I have nothing going on. I doubt Cora's coming back anytime soon."
"What happened to y'all?" He asked instead. And as much as Greta dreaded having to give the answer to that question, she was soothed into doing it the second her brushed her hair through his hand. And the guilt that was once long gone, had lingered for just a little bit longer, resorting her with the impulse to come up with something that didn't make him mad at her.
But then, she recollected all that had transpired earlier that day. Seeing Julien. Talking about their plans. The kiss. That damn, sweet kiss. And now worried layered itself over her mind as she stared up into his eyes and wondered on just what all he could know. "What did she tell you?"
At first, he merely shrugged. But that didn't help her mentality. "She seemed pretty upset. Said you tried leaving as soon as you saw him. That was all I got out of it."
Finally, she resided to some comfort in knowing that her sister didn't fully rat her out. "Guess I can thank my 'probation officer' for not being a total ass about it than she was earlier."
"Maybe she just mad cause she hate that nigga too. Shit, I ain't never met him and I wanna fight him."
"Look, don't waste your time thinking about him. Or her for that matter. She can kick rocks for all I care."
"C'mon, I know you don't mean that."
"I do, trust me. I didn't expect to even see him again. He was there and all that pain came back. And the great Cora Abney couldn't wait to get on her high horse and judge me for how I acted."
"You wanna talk about him?"
But she shook her head. "It's in the past."
