"I hereby knight thee, Greta Elaine Abney, conqueror of men."

Lulu's fork raised over one side of Greta's shoulder, and then the other as she kept herself seated in her chair at the outdoor table. Her hand and elbow propped her chin up in a lazy, carefree action. And despite Lulu's usually funny attempt at some kind of elegant, old-timey English accent, Greta couldn't feel amused right now.

Suffice it to say, she felt spoiled.

She missed out on what probably could've been amazing French Toast with a well-proven amazing guy, for a subpar sausage-egg-and-cheese croissandwich outside a nearby breakfast deli. Sitting across from the couple, Greta was subjugated to jealousy over the way Kelly and Lulu could look at each other in their joking expressions.

But deep down, Greta knew that perhaps, she dodged a bullet.

Kelly was right, she was in no position to date. Between work and other things going on in her life, adding Eli to that pile would do nobody any good. She needed to focus on the fact that she perhaps saved him for somebody less damaged. She should be proud. Hell, she should even be happy. How many sexual encounters could end with her cumming and falling asleep blissfully right after?

She just knew that she needed to get her mind off of him, that's all. She can find some other boy toy to play with, arrange some agreement with a new potential friend with benefits.

Though, as she wondered about who, Lulu spoke up again. "C'mon sweets, I thought you'd be happier about this. You haven't even touched your sandwich."

Greta shrugged, then sat back. "Sorry, it's just... A lot on my mind."

"A lot? Or just a thing?" She raised her eyebrow in curiosity, and with Greta's impending silence, Lulu satisfied herself with the answer. "See, Kelly? I told you she'd be smitten."

Kelly ignored the both of them to enjoy her sparkling water for a few sips before leaning in to tap Greta's arm. "Babe, listen, if you wanna go back there, then I won't stop you."

"What? No!" Greta scoffed with a shocked manner. "Pfft, c'mon Kelly. I'm just not that hungry, that's all. I'm not thinking about... him."

"If you say so..."

Then, in an impulsive rush, Greta begged a question. "But are you sure that maybe, he could just be interested in having something casual-"

"Nu-uh, bitch!"

"Alright..."

Watching their back and forth from the sidelines, Lulu grinned mischievously before taking a careful sip at her tea. In all her years of watching her best friend form any kind of interest for some guy, this latest example seemed profound and promising to say the least.
