Demi's POV
I am so happy Alexa has finally started to talk. After the first time, she was still pretty timid, but now she is having less trouble. She has the cutest voice. I don't think it could ever annoy me."Ready to go?" I asked standing by the door.
"Yes," she said as she finished slipping on her shoes.
We are going to the mall for summer shopping. It's getting warmer, and I haven't bought her a lot that she could wear for this season yet. She hasn't gone out with me since she's started talking. After the first time, she was too scared. I never brought her out unless I had no other choice. If I needed to be somewhere, Marissa was always there to help. Alexa was completely silent around her at first, but now she trusts her almost as much as she trusts me.
"Remember," I said as I drove to the mall. "There will be a lot of people there, and it might get a little crazy, but they won't hurt you. We'll be together the whole time." Alexa nodded. I could tell she was nervous.
"Do I have to talk in there?" Alexa asked.
"Not if you don't feel comfortable with it," I answered, and she nodded.
-
I parked in the parking lot, and turned to Alexa. "Ready to go, Lexi?" She nodded and unbuckled her seat belt. "If they ask questions, you don't have to answer." She nodded again. She got out of the car as I did, and immediately grabbed my hand. We were able to walk into the mall without a problem. I was a little surprised.
We started walking through the mall, going into various children's stores. Alexa was so girly! She loved pink, flowers, lace, and especially sparkles. She's rather wear dresses or skirts more than shorts. She never said a word, but I understood why. It was still fun shopping with her. She liked modeling every outfit she tried on. She's so funny! And CUTE!!
"Are you hungry?" I asked after a few hours. She nodded and smiled. We walked hand-in-hand to the food court. "What do you want?" I asked as she looked around at all of the food choices. She shrugged. "Too many choices?" I asked, and she nodded. "What kind of food?"
She waved her hand towards her face, telling me to bend down towards her. "Chicken," she whispered in my ear.
I smiled at her. "Good choice. Let's just get Chick-Fil-A then. They have plenty of chicken." We waited in the line. I got her chicken nuggets, and myself a chicken Cesar salad. We found a small table and ate together. I noticed people staring, but no one came up for a while. Finally a group of teenagers approached us. It was two girls and one boy.
"Hi," I greeted them with a smile.
"Hi, my friends and I were wondering if we could get a picture and your autograph," a girl spoke.
"Sure, no problem," I said as I stood up. I looked over at Alexa, who was obviously nervous.
"The cutie, too?" The other girl asked.
"Do you want to?" I asked Alexa. She made her way back to my side. We crowded together so that we could take a selfie.
"Can you sign my phone case?" The guy asked.
"Of course," I said. I rummaged through my purse for a sharpie. I've learned to always carry one around with me. I signed all three of the teen's phone cases, and the guy immediately sent the picture to both of the girls' phones.
"Thank you so much!" They all cheered at different times.
"No problem, thanks for being Lovatics," I said with a huge smile. I looked down to see alexa with a small smile.
We finished eating, then shopped around a little more. After a while, I noticed Alexa dragging her feet instead of walking normally. "Are you tired?" I asked, and she nodded. "Ready to go home?" She nodded again, this time more dramatic. I laughed a little at her reaction.
Right after we left the mall doors, we were surrounded with people and cameras. It got really loud, really quick. Alexa pressed her body against my leg, and I picked her up. She had a death grip on my shirt.
"Demi, who is this girl?"
"How long have you had her?"
"Did you have a secret pregnancy?"
"Who's the father?"
All of these questions and many more were being tossed around, and they remained un-answered. My main focus was getting through the crowd and back to my car. I really have to start calling Max, my body guard, whenever I go out with Alexa.
I made it back to my car as quickly as possible, then buckled Alexa in her seat. The paparazzi was still behind me as I did this, and Alexa hid her face in her hands as they took tons of pictures of her. I shut her door, then made it to mine. They moved away as I got in and started to pull out of my parking spot. I maneuvered around them, knowing that I would get in trouble if I hit someone. I was almost to the point of not caring. I wanted to run them over so bad!
Once on the road, I looked at Alexa through my rear-view mirror. Her hands were still over her face. "It's okay, Lexi. They're gone." She uncovered her eyes to expose a tear-stained face. Her lip was still quivering. They'll calm down after a while, I promise. They just want to know who you are," I assured her. I have an interview next week with Ellen DeGeneres, and I plan to tell the world about my new daughter then. I just hope the paparazzi will calm down after that.
Thanks for almost 4K!!!
