Demi's POV

It was the middle of the night when I heard my doorbell ring. I opened my eyes and waited to see if I would hear it again. I did. Who would be at my house at two o'closk in the morning? I walked down my stairs and to my front door. My eyes almost popped out of my head when I opened the door. Alexa was standing there, torn to pieces and shivering in just her underwear. "Lexi, what are you doing here? How did this happen?" I asked as I pulled her inside. She ran into my legs and gripped them. I came down and sat on my knees.  wrapped my arms around her tiny frame as her arms wrapped around my neck. Sobs came rushing out of her mouth as she held me tight. I picked her up and carried her onto the couch. I sat down and she remained on my lap in front of me, her face buried in my chest. "Shhhh," I said as I stroked her hair. I couldn't rub her back. I was scared I would hurt her. She had so many cuts everywhere. Her back, her arms, her legs, her stomach. Her skin was covered in cuts. They were fresh, too. Blood was all over me as she cuddled into me, but I didn't mind. I was just upset at whoever did this. No, not upset. Furious. Who could do this? Who would think that they had the right to do this? What kind of heartless person could beat someone like this? A child at that! I held onto Alexa until her tears were to a minimum, which took a long time. She looked at me with tears in her eyes. "Lexi, who hurt you like this?" I didn't get an answer, only sniffles. "Come on, we have to get you cleaned up." I carried her into the bathroom and sat her on the toilet lid, turning on the bathtub water. I waited until it was a good temperature, then I slipped off her underwear and set her in the water. Her whole body tensed up. "I know it might sting, baby, I'm sorry. I turned off the water once it covered her hips. I grabbed a wash cloth and dumped it into the water. I didn't use anything other than water to clean the cuts, so I hoped nothing would get infected. I washed all of the blood that had come from her cuts off. I stopped once I concluded that nothing was bleeding anymore. Then I helped her get out and wrapped a towel around her. She reached her hands up towards me, so I picked her up and carried her to my room. I set her down on the bed, still wrapped in a towel. I rummaged through my closet until I found a shirt she could wear. I slipped it on over her head and brushed her hair out. Then I laid her on the bed and I crawled in next to her. She snuggled into me, and I felt as she tried to match my breathing. Soon, I drifted off the sleep with the little girl in my arms.
