Alexa's POV

"Momma, I don't want to go," I said as I was packing my stuff.

"I know, I don't want you to go, either."

"Why do I have to?" I asked. "I want to stay with you." I wrapped my arms around her, and she did the same to me.

"I want you to stay with me, baby. Listen," she said as she sat on her knees in front of me. "I'm going to do everything I can to get you back. It's not over." She wiped a tear that had escaped from my eye off of my cheek. "I love you, Lexi."

I leaned into her. "I love you, too, Momma."

Then there was a knock on the front door. "I'll get it," Momma said. She came back minutes later with the man from court.

"Ready to go?" He asked. I just stared at him. I didn't want to talk.

"She's not done packing," Momma said.

"That's okay, we'll get you new stuff. Just bring what's already packed."

"Maybe she can come by and visit sometime," Momma suggested.

"Yeah," he said hesitantly. "Maybe." He turned to face me and held out his hand. "Come on, Alexa."

"She likes to be called Lexi," Momma informed him.

He looked down at me. "Lexi."

As we got closer to the front door, I left his side and ran to Momma. "Lexi, baby, I'm sorry," she said in a weak voice. I wrapped my arms tight around her.

"Come on, we should go," I heard my father say. I didn't want to let go of Momma. I felt his arms wrap around me and start to pull me away.

"NOOO!" I screamed out as I was separated from Momma.

"I love you, Lexi," she said as I was being carried out the door.

I continued to scream and cry for Momma, but he walked out to his car and placed me in the back seat. "Shut up," I heard him mumble. It was just loud enough for me to hear. I quieted down, but didn't stop crying. "Didn't you hear me? Stop," he said, and I tried to control myself. I already don't like him.

I stared out the window at Momma as we drove away from the house.

The drive was quiet. It had to be about an hour before he spoke. "You don't talk much, do you?" I didn't respond. "Listen, Alexa, I'm sorry for what I said back there, but the way you were acting was unacceptable. There was no need for a big scene like that. You're living with me now, and that's that. Understand?" I slowly nodded my head. "You can talk, I don't mind." I didn't respond. I don't want to talk to him. After about another silent half an hour, we pulled up to a house a lot smaller than Momma's. "We're home," he said before getting out of the car. I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out, following him to the front door. He opened it, and the house was so unfamiliar. It was uncomfortably unfamiliar. "Do you remember?" He asked. I just shook my head. He grabbed my arm and knelt down beside me. "I've already told you, you can talk." I tried pulling my arm away, but he tightened his grip and pushed me to the wall. "I don't like disrespect, Alexa." I was really scared now. "Do you understand?" I silently nodded my head. "Talk!" He yelled as he slammed his hands on the wall right beside me head. I flinched at his yelling. "Fine," he said more calmly. "You'll just have to learn the hard way."

What is he going to do?!?!
