23. Everything's Normal

It must've been at least 30 minutes before I finally decided to get out of bed. I went into the bathroom connected to my room. I walked up to the sink and lifted my head. I looked like crap. I turned the faucet on and put my palms under the streaming water. I put my hands up to my face and wiped my eyes.

Was that even real? I don't get it. After all those weeks and she talks to me now? What is this, some kind of foreshadowing?

I was really confused and emotionally drained. To be honest I could probably fall back asleep and never wake up at this point.

Eventually, I heard a knock on the door.

Knock Knock! "Miss Lucy? Breakfast is ready."

"Just a minute!" I quickly put on a pair of jeans and a white and black striped shirt and walked over to the door and opened it.

There he was. My favorite butler. It feels relieving to see him after that strange dream.

"I'm afraid Master Bruce had to leave earlier than usual to attend to some business and Master Tim is in his room still working on trying to locate Master Jason. So they won't be joining us for breakfast I'm afraid. But Master Dick and Master Damian are awaiting you."

I put on my biggest smile and went to pat his back.

"Thanks Freddie! I can always count on you!"

He gave me a puzzling look, but just replied with a " Your're welcome?"

Alfred followed me all the way to the dining room where Damian and Dick were sat at their usual spots. Dick gave me his normal smile and Damian gave me his usual scowl

I looked at him and said, "Well, good morning to you too."

He looked at me and then looked back at his plate. I saw that my plate was right next to Damian's. Alfred, I'm looking at you.

I sat down and said my prayers and began to eat. It was a classic eggs, bacon and toast type breakfast.

It was kind of awkward with the silence so I decided to start up a conversation just for the heck of it.

"So, how did everybody sleep last night?"

Dick was the first to respond, unsurprisingly," I slept like a baby!" He said that very enthusiastically. Slept like a baby, more like you are one!

"I slept just fine." That was all Damian had to say before he started back eating. Awww, c'mon, I thought we were finally bonding!

I turned my head to Alfred and asked him the same thing." Aw! I had a lovely night's rest. Thank you for asking. And might I inquire how yours went Miss Lucy?"

I wanted so badly to just let everything out. To just find comfort in the father figure before me.

"It went very well! I actually slept better than I have been lately." I gave him the most sincerest smile that I could muster.

"That is nice to hear." I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I'm so glad that he didn't ask anymore questions about it. Cause I'm pretty sure he noticed something was up.

Suddenly I heard a Beeping sound coming from Dick's watch. He looked down at it and said, "Oh shit, I'm late. Listen guys, I gotta get to Bludhaven and see how things are going. And apparently I need to answer Kori's calls or my ass is dead. So, you kids behave while I'm gone. I'm talking to you Damian, and call if you need anything."

"Will do!" I called as he got up.

"Oh, can you say hi to Kori for me?" Damian asked as Dick rushed out the dining room.

"Sure!" Dick called out right before the door closed. It got me thinking. I've never met Starfire before. That would be really cool. I wonder if Dick will let me go with him next time to see her. With that thought I got up from my chair and raced as fast as I could down the corridor. Right when Dick was about to open the front door I called out to him. He turned to look at me.

"You mind if I come with you next time? To Bludhaven I mean."

At first he looked confused, but then he chuckled and seemed to understand my wanting to go. "Sure. You want to meet Kori right?"

"Yes!" I said with excitement in my voice and written all over my face.

"Alright, I'll let her know that I'm bringing a guest next time."

"Okay! Sounds good."

"Watch over Damian for me. He can be, a little rambunctious at times."

I put my hand to my forehead like I was saluting and said, "You got it sir!"

"See ya later!" He chuckled while going out the door. Well, got that out of the way. I can't wait until I can meet Starfire! She was definitely one of my favorite female DC characters growing up. Man, the superheroes I've met in this world so far are such icons where I come from, it's hard to believe they're actually real. Well, that's what I'm assuming anyway. At this point, I don't know what's real and what isn't. I guess I'll just have to keep living my best life here until I do.
