Steps to Christ Today

   I always wonder if something was wrong with me. I find joy, and I have this desire, in sharing God's Word. However, I hardly see my fellow Christians match this passion. I was curious and I am still curious. Jane looked at me and shrug. I ask her again, "Why? Why don't you have the courage to share God's words?"

"You won't understand"

"I definitely will. I was once in this situation. Please tell me"

"The thing is...." she trails off and shakes her head. "I feel people will judge me and run away from me if I do. Not all like to hear about God".

"Oh, is that— "

She cuts me short. "I feel like I don't have enough to share and I know I'm not perfect so what gives me the right to share it? I think it's best I leave that for pastors".

"Hmmm.." I nod.

"I'm also worried my friends will look at me somehow"

"Okay!" I place my hand on her shoulder. We are under a tree that shades us from the sun. It's a bright afternoon and I had planned to go to the supermarket but I guess that can wait. I need to here for my friend. She needs me.

She sighs and raises a brow at me. "What can I do?"

I rub her shoulder and ask, "Do you want to hear my honest opinion?"

"Yes"

"Okay!" I smile warmly. "Do you believe we are all called on a mission for Christ or do you think it's just a few?"

She shrugs. "It's not all that knows how to preach".

"Do you know sharing God's Word is not all about preaching? Do you believe there are other ways?"

"Hmm.... I'm not sure"

"Well, I have good news for you. There are other ways. You don't have to hold a mic and preach to prove you are sharing God's Word. Sharing it can be in any form. Everyone is blessed with his or her talents. Just as how different organs in our body has a role to play, so do we, each have a role to play in our mission for Christ. You can use your voice, public speaking skill, art, writing skill or more to spread God's Word. You can also use your lifestyle. Just always have it in mind that God wants to speak to someone through you. Always remember that. God wants to save his children and since you are His Child, isn't it appropriate to assist your Heavenly Father in His mission?"

"But I don't have the confidence"

"Confidence comes when you see the importance in it. Personally, I believe sharing God's Word is very vital in a Christian's life. Jesus tells us to go out and preach the Gospel. He wasn't only talking to His disciple. He was talking to us too. The devil is at work and God needs many hands in saving lives. If you love your neighbor as you love yourself, you will know eternal life is just as important to them as it is to you. If you love God as much as you claim you do, you will please Him by drawing His other children to Him. That's what I think".

"But where can I find courage?"

"My dear, you can find that courage in Him. Ask God for His strength and courage. With God all things are possible and he says all things work together for good to those who love Him and work according to His purpose"

She clamps her lips shut and nods. We stare in silence before she eventually asks, "We are all called on a mission?"

"Yes. We are Christ's representatives. He says that we should let our light shine. To let that light shine, to me, is to show others the joy and peace you find in Christ Jesus. I hope all have said helps you".

She smiles. "It did. Thank you. God bless you"

"And you too"

We embrace before we both depart. With each steps I take away from her, my smile broadens. Am I the only one that feels this sense of joy that comes with sharing and speaking about God? I don't know about others but this joy is refreshing.
