Inside an apartment building in a downtown neighbourhood, Zhang Yun is putting on her clothes with a tired face and preparing to go downstairs. As a trainee in the Special Events Department, Zhang Yun had recently been transferred to a new position because of the high mortality rate among the executives, and she had been pulled in as a trainee before she had completed her internship. Zhang Yun is well aware of the reason for this and knows that she is not yet capable of dealing with paranormal incidents, but she is still very excited to be transferred.

As a result, Zhang Yun worked harder and took on more work every day, trying her best to lighten the load of her mentor Zhao Gang and to hone her skills to become a qualified executive as soon as possible. But last week, her sister suddenly told her that her niece, Kristie, had been hospitalised and she had been away on business recently and was unable to look after her, so she asked Zhang Yun to look after her.

Zhang Yun wanted to tell her sister that she couldn't just leave her niece alone in the hospital, that it would be cruel for Kristie to be born and not cared for, but she also knew that her sister had a knot in her stomach. The man who did not deserve to be called her brother-in-law had cheated on her and left her with her lover, leaving her sister and her six-year-old child, Kristie. Who was so devastated by this that she attempted suicide several times. However, when faced with Kristie, who is her husband's bloodline, she is still unable to get over it, which is why she is cold-hearted towards Kristie all the time, sometimes so cold that she does not look like a mother.

Zhang Yun doesn't know how to persuade her sister to untie her knot, she has never been good with words and can only do what she can to take care of her niece Kristie, who show less affection with her mother. Now Kristie is alone, sick and in a strange hospital, not knowing how scared she must be. The more she thought about it, the more her heart ached. Even though she was tired from working overtime yesterday, she couldn't care less and had to go to Kristie's hospital to take care of her while there was less work during the day.

Soon, Zhang Yun arrived at the nearby Renai Hospital, which is not a big hospital, but the charges are cheap and the hospitalization costs are not too high, that's why her sister chose this place. Zhang Yun's idea to change the hospital was rejected, even if she wanted to pay for it herself, her sister had all the documents pressed and without the guardian's permission, Zhang Yun could not transfer her niece to another hospital.

Walking into the ward, the little girl with short black hair was sitting on the bed playing with a Muppet in her hand, her snowy white cheeks without a trace of expression, her dark pupils empty. At first glance, Zhang Yun saw Kristie's expressionless face and felt pity for her. She went forward and took out various snacks and Muppet toys she had just bought to make Kristie laugh. When she saw that Aunt Zhang Yun had arrived, Kristie's expression instantly became much more vivid, and she picked up her bed puppet, her smile sweet and angelic and pure.

"Thank you, Auntie!" Kristie hugged the Muppet, her eyes shining brightly as she looked at Zhang Yun.

"Have you been well lately?" Zhang Yun touched Kristie's soft cheek, her eyes gentle.

Kristie sniffed, her eyes faintly pausing unnoticeably before she nodded, saying that she was doing well, just a little lonely.

"It's okay now, with Auntie here, Kristie isn't lonely anymore!" Kristie shook her head, her smile stoic.

Zhang Yun looked at the understanding little girl and felt even more pain in her heart. She was busy with work these days and had only come a few times, but her little niece, who was only six years old, had not thrown any tantrums and was still so attached to her. She should find a way to bring her little niece home now that she was almost well enough, and if her sister really didn't want to take care of her, she could do it for her. Zhang Yun really didn't want to see Kristie show that despondent expression again. A child should behave like a child and play happily with her peers every day, not spend her childhood in this cold hospital full of sterile water smell.
