She walked around the top of a building. There was no sign of anyone approaching. There was no clue anyone had come yet. The weak human soul inside her had managed to hint to the brothers where she was hiding, but there was no way they'd figure out exactly where within a day. There were too many buildings along the river. She knew she had time. Time to gather supplies to exact her revenge. And when the Winchesters found her, she would make them pay. She would make them suffer.
---------
They'd been running around all day. It was already late into the day. Sam and Dean had split up. Sam had stayed at the motel, checking resources, looking at reports, trying to find anything to help narrow the search. Dean, however, had been walking to every single building along the river, looking for any sign of Shane. He kept thinking about the dream he'd had.
He hated to see Shane in so much pain. He couldn't understand why he had developed such a strong connection to Shane, but he knew that he couldn't stand to see her in that kind of pain. He knew he had to find her. He knew he had to save her. Somehow. Somehow... he would bring her back alive. He knew if she had contacted him, she was in serious pain.
*flashback*
"So, you're saying that Shane's been contacting you through dreams for the past few nights? She's been... talking to you?"
Dean ran his hands through his hair. "Yes, how many times do I have to say it? She's been telling me stuff. She's been trying to get me to find her, to help her. You've got to believe me."
Sam looked puzzled. "I believe you, it's just... I didn't think Shane had any, you know," Sam pointed to his head, "abilities?"
Dean chuckled. "Neither did I. But she does."
Sam looked out the window. "What're we going to do when we find her, Dean?"
Dean sat down. "I don't know. But we've got to save her."
*flashback over*
Dean felt destitute. He didn't understand anything. Why was there no sign of her anywhere?
Dean's phone began ringing. "Hello?"
"Dean, Ellen just called me. Apparently, a hunter went back to the crash site."
Dean paused, confused, "Ok? Your point."
"They found something. In the tree line by the road."
"Get on with it, Sam we don't have all day."
"It's Shane's necklace. Her pentagram."
"What?" Dean stood frozen in shock. He should've known she didn't have it on her if she was possessed now, but he couldn't imagine how it came off. He knew Shane wouldn't have removed it.
"I know. The hunter is bringing it here. But, I don't know when he'll get here."
"We've got to find her before he gets here."
"Why?"
"We can use the pentagram to get the demon out. We need to give it back to her. We-"
"Dean. I think you need to take a break."
He was shocked. "What the hell are you talking about, Sam?"
"You're pushing yourself. You really need to back off. I mean, Dean, this..."
There was a pause.
"This is a funkytown, and I think it, combined with the pain of losing Shane... it's too much."
Funkytown? Shit Dean thought. Shane... don't kill him. Please don't kill him.
There was a huge smack.
"Sam? Sam!?"
"Dean," he knew that voice.
"Whatever the hell you are, I swear, if you even think about hurting Shane or my brother, I'm going to-"
A laugh cut him off. "You'll what, Dean? I've got your brother. I've got Shane. I hold all the aces. I'm in charge. So, you're going to listen to me. You'll find your brother, and your pathetic little Shane in the abandoned Dedwhich building. Seventh floor. You'll be there at midnight. You'll come alone. And you won't bring any guns. Okay?"
"Why the hell do you think I'll listen to you?"
"Because, your brother is knocked out on the floor, the back of his head facing my gun, and I can kill your little Shane whenever I want. So, unless you want to have two bodies on your hands, you'll listen to me. Be there at midnight. Or they both die."
The phone line went dead. Dean didn't have any other option. He had to do what this demon wanted. Because if he didn't...
Sam and Shane would die.
