Another ship.

(Y/n) always found herself on another damn ship.

After the events in Ba Sing Se, the group had flown to Chameleon Bay to meet up with Hakoda and other Water Tribe members.

The bay became overrun with Fire Nation soldiers, so they fled out to sea, and captured a Fire Nation ship and began using it as their disguise.

That was weeks ago.

Katara had used the water from the Spirit Oasis on Aang and Sokka, bringing them back to life, albeit in very unstable condition.

Unconscious, but alive.

Katara had nearly torn herself apart trying to heal Aang and Sokka. The look of pure relief on Katara's face when she heard Aang's heart beating again was something to behold.

(Y/n) saw Katara's tears of joy knowing she had brought her brother and Aang back to life. All on her own.

(Y/n) had sobbed as she cradled Katara in her arms, muttering 'i'm so proud of you's and 'thank you's and 'i love you's until her voice gave out, and the tears wouldn't leave their eyes anymore.

(Y/n) had to give comfort to Toph, too. Even though the girl insisted she didn't need it, she came to (Y/n) some nights just for someone to talk to about how she was feeling.

But the days have been so slow.

Each day, (Y/n) wakes up to check on Sokka as he lay in one of the staff rooms on the ship. He stayed in the same spot, laying on his back, his arms by his sides, his chest wrapped in bandages. His mouth would open slightly, and (Y/n) would push his chin up as to prevent his mouth from drying out.

It was torture waking up every morning, hoping to see Sokka lying awake on his bed. It hurt to not have him around all the time.

She couldn't believe that there was a time she hated him. Maybe hate was a strong word— she disliked him.

Now, she hated him not being there. She meant the word 'hate' in this sense.

Not having Aang around hurt, too. Her little boy. She wanted him back.

••

(Y/n) stood at the bow of the ship, hands on the railing as the wind blew in her face. The air was salty, and the sun was warm.

Someone called her into the ship for lunch, and she went towards the call.

She grabbed her bowl of food, and she went back out to the deck to eat, with Katara and Toph following.

The mood on the ship lifted each day, everyone reasoning that there was no reason to be upset, knowing the boys would wake up eventually. All they could do was keep their heads held high until those days came.

After lunch, (Y/n) and Katara went to Aang's room to replace his bandages, and so Katara could use water to heal him some more.

Aang had dark brown—maybe even black— hair growing on his head, covering most of the tattoo on his head.

(Y/n) finishes the wrap on his chest and tucks the end in place, keeping it snug to his body. She looks to Katara, who is staring down at Aang sadly.

(Y/n) pulls Katara in by her shoulder, holding the younger girl close. "You're doing so well, Katara. Did you see how much better his scars are looking?"

Katara sniffs and nods. "Yeah, they used to look a lot worse, huh?"

"Sure did. They're doing so much better now, thanks to you."
