(Y/n) had handcuffs strapped around her wrists, and two guards were on either side of her, holding onto her arms. They were guiding her to the end.
She didn't think it would come this quickly.
She only saw guards patrolling around the prison, with no prisoners around. The lockdown had come with good timing. No one would have to see (Y/n) die, other than some guards she never cared about.
What about Aang? Or Katara and Toph? The kids she loved more than anything in the world would never be able to see her again.
She didn't think she'd be here. She didn't think she'd go to the Boiling Rock, never to return.
What about Zuko? She never got to create a new relationship with him, and rewrite their poor past. They could have been friends.
Or Suki? She had been so jealous of Suki in the past over things that (Y/n) was overthinking and making assumptions about. Suki saw (Y/n) as a good friend, and although (Y/n) did too, part of her friendship with Suki was tainted with one-sided jealousy. Now, she'd never get the chance to redeem herself.
Sokka. (Y/n) was hoping that Sokka would come and save her, take her back to the people she loved most. She'd never again get to tell Sokka how much she loved him, and how long she had been in love with him without knowing it.
(Y/n) looked down at her feet as she was taken through the prison.
••
Sokka had finally met up with his father. Together, they made an escape plan that consisted of starting a riot in the yard, taking the warden hostage, then escaping on the gondola.
Easy enough.
Sokka went to Suki and Zuko's cells, and told them the plan.
The only thing left to do was to tell (Y/n) about the plan.
As he walked in the direction of her cell, he saw it was left unguarded, and he had to fight the smile daring to stretch his lips. He approached the door, and looked into the cell from the eyehole in the door.
There was no one in there.
Sokka was confused. Why would she not be in there? The prison was in a lockdown, and all prisoners were ordered to stay in their cells. Why would she be an exception?
Sokka walked away from her cell to avoid looking suspicious.
When the time came, Sokka convinced the guard who was stationed at the controls to open up every prisoners cell door, starting the first part of his plan: the riot.
He was also hoping that with every prisoner in the yard, (Y/n) would be out there too.
••
(Y/n) was in the yard, standing on the wooden platform of the hanging gallow.
The rope had not yet been put around her neck, but she stood on top of the platform that would later fall from under her feet, leaving her to die.
Her throat tightened up just thinking about it.
One of the guards came up from behind her and slipped the rope over her head, and around her neck. Another guard took the handcuffs from her wrists.
This was it. She couldn't say anything to the people she loved, she couldn't scream out for help. Who would hear her?
Her breathing grew ragged and sharp as she waited for the inevitable. She didn't cry, she only had regrets.
