The group had arrived at the rendezvous point for the invasion four days early, which meant that Aang had four days to worry about it. He trained all day, every day, and every night when his nightmares woke him up.
Aang tried to get everyone to train for things he had worried about in his dreams. He made Sokka climb a cliff, and he made (Y/n) try to firebend, because in his dream, she had suddenly discovered she could, and accidentally blew herself up.
After 2 hours of (Y/n) trying to bend, nothing worked. Obviously, because she couldn't bend. She knew this.
After many attempts to remedy Aang's nervousness, ljke yoga, therapy, and massages, nothing was helping.
Aang opted to stay awake until the invasion, eventually talking to Appa and Momo, like he could understand them.
The group eventually coaxed Aang to sleep, the night before the invasion was set to begin.
Everyone had changed back into their home nations clothes, which meant that (Y/n) stayed in what she was wearing. She thought it might be best if she wore Fire Nation clothes in case they needed someone to duck away and look normal. Aang was still in his Fire Nation clothes, black hair still growing out of his head.
Sokka sat at the edge of the cliff that overlooked the bay, studying a bunch of maps that were laid out in front of him.
(Y/n) walked over with a cup of water, kneeling next to him. He had his chin resting on his hand, too focused to look up at her. (Y/n) took his wrist, holding his hand out to take the water. He finally looked at her, and when he did, she put a hand to his cheek, reassuring him.
They hadn't really talked about the kiss at Hama's inn, but neither of them felt the need to. They were much too busy, but neither of them regretted it. The pace they were going at was fine with them.
"Top of the morning, Momo!" Aang cheered, jumping towards the rest of the group.
"Sounds like you slept well." Katara says.
"Like a baby moose lion," Aang said. Sokka shivered at the mention of the animal. "I'm ready to face the Fire Lord."
"So what's your strategy for taking him down? Gonna get your glow on and hit him with a little Avatar state action?" Toph asked, throwing punches into the air.
"I can't," Aang said, casting his eyes to the ground. "When Azula shot me with lightning my seventh chakra was locked, cutting off my connection to all the cosmic energy in the universe."
"You know what I just heard? Blah-blah spiritual mumbo-jumbo, blah-blah, something about space." Toph says, opening and closing her hand to imitate blabbering. Aang scowls at her.
(Y/n) looks out to the sea, narrowing her eyes. She saw a thick fog casting over the sea, quickly approaching the cliff.
"Oh, no. Sokka, do you think the fog will delay the invasion?" (Y/n) asks, tapping his shoulder to grab his attention.
He furrows his brows and gets to his feet. "No...that is the invasion."
Water Tribe ships peek out from the fog, steadily approaching the group.
Everyone moves down to the shore, and Aang and Toph earthbend some docks for the boats, five in total.
Hakoda gets off of a boat, and as he steps foot on the dock, Katara and Sokka go running towards him. (Y/n) stayed with Toph and Aang to greet the other Water Tribe soldiers.
(Y/n) looks to see the men from the swamp get off of the boat. That's who Sokka wanted to bring back? (Y/n) couldn't deny that they were talented benders, but the lack of pants made (Y/n) shudder—and not in a good way.
