Camila and I got into the car to drive to the place where she was planning on 'making it up to me'. The drive so far was long and quiet, and I couldn't help but stare at the outside world through the fogged window and lose myself in my thoughts. In a moment, I felt her cold flesh touch my hand and I instantly pulled away.
Her voice was still recovering from the performance, "The least you could do is hold my hand and pretend like you still love me." Camila half-giggled trying to cheer herself up regarding our current position. I glanced over towards the small Cuban girl and smiled. Then I remembered I was still mad at her, so I quickly looked away when I saw her chocolate eyes meet mine. "I knew I could get you to smile if I giggled. You love that."
"Just keep your eyes on the road, Camila." I said in a harsh tone immediately regretting it afterwards.
The car came to a direct halt and Camila put it in park. I looked around at the area we drove in to see a giant screen in front of us but no other cars were parked around.
"What's this?" I asked unbuckling my seatbelt and turning towards her.
She giggled and turned towards me. Damn, that smile. So white and perfect. Even though my anger wasn't settled, her smile was soothing me more and more as time progressed. "It's a drive in. I had the owners close it out for us."
I rolled my eyes, "A movie?"
"Not just any movie, mind you. But our favorite movie. Titanic."
I scoffed, "That's your favorite."
She opened the car door to get into the back seat and hand me some blankets. "No. It's ours. Do you remember that one night before we started dating? We decided to have a movie night and sleep over and this is what we watched."
I remember clearly. It was a month after she passed her audition and her and I became really really good friends. More touchy than best friends, I'd have to say. But we were still innocent then and we never really spoke about our feelings. She called me up one night to have a sleep over, but only with her. I didn't think twice about it and said yes, but I was super nervous the entire time because I had grown the biggest crush on her. She could tell I was acting weird so she decided to start a movie that way it wouldn't be too awkward if I just stayed quiet and day dreamed. At the part where Rose comes back to save Jack at the last minute while the room started to flood, Camila lightly nudged my arm to get my attention. "Hey y/n." She whispered.
I did a half nod still staring at the movie and she continued, "Wouldn't it be cool to have a relationship like that? Where someone would be a hero in your time of need?" She took a sip of her soda can, and looked at me like she wasn't going really deep into a topic. She did that often.
I shrugged, "I guess. But I wouldn't really know. I don't know what it's like to have a relationship or people who like me. Let alone people who want to be around me." I was joking but it hit a deep pit in the bottom of my stomach because it was kind of true.
I could feel her eyes on me. It was almost like a burning sensation. She now spoke in a different tone than before. It was almost heartfelt and kind of flirty, but I had a feeling I was imagining it. "Well, I like you." She cleared her throat knowing that she sounded different as well. "If I didn't like you. I wouldn't hang out with you so much. You're special, Y/n." The last sentence sent Camila's voice back into that flirty tone.
I looked at her and her coffee colored eyes were stuck in a trance as she glared at me. I raised my eyebrow, "How do you mean?"
Mila bit her lip and smiled, "You just are. You are just so comfortable to be around. I'm different when I'm around you."
"Is that supposed to be a good thing?" Look, I'm an oblivious person when it comes to people liking me in any way. So, when she said she was different around me I was a little offended. I wanted her to treat me like she treated everyone else.
Camila started to get closer and I had barely noticed that there was now a tiny gap between us. "Yeah, I think it is." She whispered moving in further to close the gap and crash her lips onto mine. I closed my eyes and hit euphoria. When I kissed her soft glossy lips, I felt complete and happy. Mila pulled away with a smile. It was a simple and sweet moment.
I whispered to myself, "This is now my favorite movie."
I didn't notice Camila heard it, but a giggle blurted out of her lips as she playfully hit my hand. "Mine too."
