chapter 2

Days passed and Chicky was still happy about the girlfriend thing. She decided to go to Christian’s workplace. When she arrived Steve and Lester saw her.

“Excuse me? Nandyan ba si Christian?” Chicky asked. “Ay umalis na eh!” sabat naman ni Lester. “Kasama si Agatha.” Steve said in a matter-of-fact tone.

Hindi siya makapaniwala sa narinig niya. [di ba nila ako kilala? I’m his girlfriend!] she thought.

“Oh..o-okay. Sige thanks.”

Tulala siyang naglakad papuntang tricycle. Nakarating na siya ng apartment nila tulala pa rin siya. Then nakita siya ni Joey.

“Huy! Ano nangyari sayo? Ba’t ka ganyan?” he said concern was present in his voice.

“Uy. Kaw pala. Joey tara inom tayo. Bili ka ng beer. Yung marami ah?” sagot niya na wala pa rin sa sarili.

“Ayoko nga! Di kita papayagan uminom. Ano ba kasi nangyari?!” he said. There’s a bigger percent of concern present in his voice. “Dali na. Please?” she asked.

He’s now super worried for her. “Sasabihin ko sa’yo pero inom muna tayo.” She said.

“Fine. Oo na. Pero konti lang iinumin mo ha?” he told her.

Joey went to Aling Bakekang’s store and bought  5 bottles of beer.

“Chicky! San ka na?” he went to her room. Andun siya. Bangag pa rin.

“Come on tell me. What happened?” he gave her an opened bottle. Kinuha niya at ininom ng dirediretso. He opened for himself and another one for Chicky.

“Whoa! Easily lang. Bakit ba?”

Chicky thought where she would start, pero naiyak na lang sya bigla.

“Oh..bakit ka umiiyak?!” he asked her pero she still doesn’t want to talk. After 3 bottles of beer she spoke. ”uhm…”

“What happened ba? Ayaw mo sabihin eh. Ang hirap mo kaya intindihin?” he said, malapit ng mainis. “May iba na siya.” She said while drinking her 4th bottle.

“huh?!”

“Si Christian. May iba na siya. Agatha.. who are you?! Damn you!” sagot ni Chicky.

[kaya pala.] he thought.

“Akala ko siya na. Grabe I gave my all. Panahon ko, love ko. Ilang araw pa lang kami meron na kagad siyang iba. Ano ba yan?!” 

Joey was still silent.

“Penge pa ng beer.” Hindi nag abot si Joey kasi wala na, instead he sat next to her and hugged her. As if on cue, bigla siyang humagulgol kay Joey. “Ang hirap! Sobra!” she said na nasisinok pa. “Sshh. Tama na. Andito naman ako eh. Kalimutan mo na siya. Tahan na.” Comfort ni Joey.

Nakalipas ang ilang minuto tahimik na si Chicky. Tinignan siya ni Joey. Eh kaya pala tahimik. Tulog na ang lasing. Binuhat niya siya to her bed. Kinumutan siya at umupo sa couch na katabi ng kama niya.

Quietly he spoke. “Wag ka na uli iiyak. Nasasaktan ako. Knowing na I can’t do anything for you and yet I’m telling myself that I love you so much.”

Binantayan niya si Chicky hanggang umaga pero eventually nakatulog din siya. He woke up because of the sunlight that hit his face. So he went downstairs and made breakfast. He went first in the bathroom to do his routine.

Meanwhile, Chicky shifted from her position and woke up. She got up from bed and went straight down to the kitchen holding her head.

“Ouch! My head hurts!” she said tapos may naamoy. “Wow! Ambango ah!”

Joey looked back and saw Chicky. “Good morning!” she spoke first. “Good morning! Naghilamos ka na ba?” he said. “Ay! hindi pa. Hehe! Wait lang.” she said. She went to the bathroom and washed her face then dried it with a towel.

“Ready na ko tunggain yan!!” she happily said. He smiled and asked, “ aba nasa mood ka na! You okay na?”

“Yup tagal pa ba yan? Gutom na ko eh. Hehe..” she asked.

“Aba! Okay ka na nga! Demanding ka na eh. Hehehe!” he teased.

“Hehe!” was all her reply.

Joey placed the food in the middle of the table. “Let’s eat!” and dug in the food. “Tsk tsk tsk! Kaya ka tumataba eh. Tignan mo nga yang plato mo! Umaapaw! Siguraduhin mong uubusin mo yan ah?! Sayang ang food!” reklamo ni Joey. “Yes Sir! At FYI lang po. Di po ako mataba!”
