chapter 11

Inside the movie theater, Vicky started to walk ahead with Max close behind her. She stopped in her tracks and Max bumped into her.

“What the~? Ano ba yan? Why did you stop?” Max irritatingly said pero not loud for the others to hear them.

“S-Sorry.” She stuttered. She began to feel goosebumps all over her body. She started to walk forward but this time much slower.

“Hey, you alright?” Max asked her. He touched her elbow at nagulat na kinikilabutan si Vicky and stopped.

“Ok ka lang ba?” he said, concern was visible in his sweet voice.

Hearing his voice, Vicky lost all frightening sensations within her and said, “Uh. Thanks! I’m alright now.”

“You Sure? I mean we can go out. It’s really not a big deal anyway. We can always watch a movie sometime.”

“No its okay.” She said reassuringly. “Let’s go.” She said.

“Ok. Whatever you say. Pero kapag nahimatay ka dyan di kita bubuhatin ah? Ayoko mag amoy isda.” He teased.

“Aba. Grabe ka rin ah? Ang sama na nga ng naging feeling ko kanina tapos aasarin mo pa ko ngayon? Aish! Bahala ka na nga!” and she move forward and found a seat in the back row.

“Dito na lang tayo. Puno na eh.” She said quietly.

Well, they were late for the movie. About 30 minutes to be exact.

“Did you see any of them?” Vicky said arching forward to get a better look at all the movie watchers.

“Nope! May be they are in the other side. This theater is kind of big too. We’ll just see them outside.” Max said as if he was sure of that.

“Okay. Uhm, since we’re at the back row its okay if I text them.

“Just make sure it’s in silent mode” Max said and looked straight in the screen.

Where are you guys? We’re already here! Bakit hindi niyo kami sinave ng seats?! We can’t find you here. She texted Chicky.

In the meantime, si Chicky naman eh masyadong busy sa pagiging sweet sa kanyang lovey dovey. Pwede na rin silang langgamin sa ginagawa nila. She received the text.

She opened it and a smile crept across her lips. Joey noticed it and asked why.

“She texted me. Nagfifreak out na siya.” Chicky said.

“Eh pano na nga pala yan?” Joey asked.

“Edi sasabihin natin sa kanila.” And she smiled.

We’re here at cinema 1.

Back to VIcky who’s still looking for her dear friends received the text.

“Max! Where’s the ticket?!” she freaked out.

Max got his ticket and gave it to her.

“Damn it!” she cursed.

“Sssshhhh!!!” the people before her hushed her.

“Sorry. Sorry!” she said and then turned to Max.

“Max, we’re on the wrong cinema!” she said quietly.

“Eh? That can’t be! I mean the ticket lady let us in.” Max thought.

“No idiot! I mean we do have the right ticket! But the others got different!” she said still freaking out.

“Different? You mean they~” he stopped.

“Yes! They set this up!” she finished his sentence.

“But why?” Max thought.

Bigla na lang nakatanggap ng text si Max.

Dude! Mag-usap na kayo ha? We gave you the time for yourselves. Make use of it. okay? Don’t do anything rash baka mamaya patayin ako ni Vicky. hahaha!!

“Yeah! They set this up. Haaaay. What are we gonna do?” he said.

“Dunno. Aish! Lagot sakin yun mga yun pag tapos nito.” She cursed them at the back of her mind.

“Edi panuorin na lang natin. After all, andito na rin tayo so sayang naman.” He suggested.

“okok. Whatever.” She said still pissed off of the fact that they did this kind of thing to them.

Max began to feel uneasy. In the van, Max wanted to say something. And now, he has to build up the courage to say it to her.

“Vicky?” Max said slightly sweating.

“Yeah?” she replied.

[Thank God hindi na mainit ulo niya.] he thought.

“I’ve been meaning to talk to you.” he started.

“Huh?” she said now paying attention to him.

“Remember, we had the talk when we were in high school?” he continued.

Vicky had the feeling that she wouldn’t want to hear the next part of what he’s gonna say. The memories flooded back to her.

~Flash back~

Back in their Seniors’ party..

“Vicky! I’m so excited to go to College!! Akalain mo yun? Pare-pareho tayo ng school na papasukan?!” Max leapt for joy.

“Hahaha! Oo nga eh! At bakit ka naman excited?” sagot ni Vicky.

“Kasi masaya daw sa College! Marami daw activities and stuff!! Andami kong gusto I-try!” he said still happy.

“Aish! At ano naman yang mga gusto mo I-try? Basta wag ka lang sasali sa frat.” She said.

Despite the hardness of her character, ang totoo she longs for his attention. His affection. Deep inside, she wants him to notice her and she will be the one who he wants to try. Maybe try falling in love with her.

“I want to experience partying! Haha! And going to bars! And..and..” he trailed off and he blushed furiously.

“What?” she said encouraging him to go on. And still hoping that he will notice her. Not just a close friend but other than that.

“And.. fall in love.” He said looking at her lovingly in the eyes.

Vicky looked at him as if also wanting to return that loving look. But she knew that it was just nothing. It meant nothing. Especially for him.

“Oh. I see. I see your point. Eh pano ka naman titignan ng girls eh tignan mo nga ang tapang mo magpabango. Tapos masyado kang presko. Dapat cool lang. Haha!” she joked.

[Actually all of it isn't true. Hindi ka matapang magpabango. You smelled just fine. No. Actually you smell like a baby. At hindi rin totoo na presko ka. Mahiyain ka nga eh. Sobra. Hindi ko alam bakit yun yung nasabi ko. Alam ko naman na it isn't true. Kasi for me, you're perfect. My Gosh! Max Villanueva! Why do you have that effect on me! I'm giving you up para hindi na ko masaktan!]

“Yeah yeah! Whatever!” Max giggled.

[Wag mo nga ipakita sakin yang giggle mo! Baka hindi pa kita pakawalan!]

“Hahaha!” and she joined in his laughter.
