"Where could it be....."

Kakashi grunted as he looked under his bed. Spotting a few papers in the corner, he raised his eyebrows. "Ah, there it is. I'm late again."

----

"Ohh....I see."

"That's why I you don't have braincells," Takako scoffed at Shimiko who gave her a very apologetic grin.

"Ahh...it's embarrassing to cry like this here..." Hiromi whined with a sniffle. "But I'm so worried for my sister! I know she'd be taking part in the chunin exams soon but still..."

"She'll be fine," Takako sighed.  "Anyway, what were you doing here?"

"Me?" Shimiko pointed at herself with a blank stare.

"Yes, you, who else?" Takako said bluntly.

"Um, well....nothing, honestly," Shimiko sweatdropped. "I just got bored."

Seeing Hiromi so worried for her sister, she figured it'd be weird if she were to talk about her worries for the chunin exam without a proper reason and explanation. For now, it'd be fine to leave those thoughts aside.

But is it really okay to not do much for the chunin exams? After all, it changed a lot of things.....

"Shimiko????"

Shimiko looked up to see Takako waving a hand in front of her. "You awake? My mom made some Taiyaki. You want some?"

Shimiko nodded vigorously. She needed sugar now, immediately.

----

It was a nice, peaceful, quiet Thursday afternoon. Kakashi wasn't at home, at that's a good thing, because Shimiko had decided on one thing.

She intensely stared at the stack of Icha Icha in front of her.

'I'm doing it.'

She inhaled sharply before flipping open the first book with trembling hands.

'I'm.....actually-'

A sudden knock at her front door made her scream and push the stack of books away off the coffee table as she stood up immediately. She squished her own face, calming herself down before sliding the door open.

"E-Eh?"

Before her stood three unexpected guests.

"Ehhhhhhh????? Isn't this Kakashi-sensei's house? Where's he? Who're you?" Naruto squinted at Shimiko who backed off slightly.

"Oh! Shimiko-chan!" Sakura smiled nervously. "We're here to um, turn in our chunin exam forms. Is Kakashi-sensei around?"

"No, he's outside doing stuff," Shimiko gave them an apologetic smile. She glanced at Sasuke before flinching at his gaze, immediately looking away. Goddamn, he's making her more nervous. "Come on in, my brother's coming home soon."

"Ah, thank you!" Sakura smiled.

Shimiko froze.

The books!!!

"JUST A SECOND!" She slammed the door in their face. Quickly picking up the Icha Icha books from the floor, she carefully slid them under the coffee table before running back to the front door again. "Sorry, sorry. Come on in."
