Chapter 29 - World

Team 7. With Kakashi Hatake leading as their sensei, consisted of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. They were the main cast of the anime Naruto, and Shimiko was currently sitting right in front of them.

It was close to the chunin exams arc. She should be sobbing. Crying. Panicking and screaming every second she existed near them, but yet...

She just stared at them blankly with an empty smile.

"You don't have any other family members except for Kakashi sensei, isn't it?" Sakura asked.

Shimiko stiffly nodded. 

"Sayy, when's Kakashi-sensei getting back??" Naruto groaned.

"Be patient, Naruto!" Sakura scolded. "You've been saying that for the past five minutes!"

The pink haired kunoichi heaved a sigh. "Say, Shimiko-chan. Can you do us a favor and pass our forms to Kakashi-sensei?"

"Yes- yes," Shimiko nodded, again, stiffly.

"Ahh, that's wonderful! Then we'll leave it up to you, Shimiko-chan! We'll be leaving then, thank you!!" Sakura smiled before standing up, the other two following behind.

They're leaving.

An image of Naruto screaming in pain as a seal was placed on him by Orochimaru flashed through Shimiko's head.

They're leaving.

Another image flashed through her head, this time of Sasuke breaking Zaku's arms.

They're . . . leaving.

Was she just going to let this all happen without doing anything? Her friends, hurt. Her new home, destroyed. Is she going to just let it pass like that? Is there nothing else she could do?

Orochimaru, curse mark, Sasuke, Itachi-

"Ita-" Shimiko spoke before she froze. "Uh. I mean. You guys are leaving so soon?" She nervously tapped her foot on the floor. "It's only been five minutes. I can get you guys something to drink, too, If you want!"

"Well-" Sakura sighed with a small smile. "I can't say no now, can I?"

Shimiko's eyes sparkled. She fought. She fought against fate. She fought against what was supposed to happen. I mean, technically she didn't really do anything, but she stopped them from going back too fast! That's a good thing, maybe in someway she can try to inform them about all the stuff that were going to happen in the chunin exams, and maybe a miracle could happen out of it!

"I'll get you guys a few warm cups of green tea!" Shimiko cheerfully spoke before dashing straight to the kitchen.

She hummed merrily as she pulled out three cups from the cabinet. She hummed merrily as she reached out for the kettle. She hummed merrily as-

The lovely, cheerful humming stopped. The smile on her face disappeared as she dropped onto her knees.

What had she done?

She stared at her trembling hands.

How is she even going to convince them that some snake is going to crawl out of a tree, give Sasuke a hickey, seal off Naruto's mysterious power, make them both faint, make Sasuke go into grr im alpha emo wolf mode and break someones arms, and have some dude with glasses trick them into thinking he's an ally and attempt to commit sweet dreams everyone as a level 1000 villian?

God, that isn't even all that happened.

She can't really even tell them anything.

Sighing, she poured some water into the kettle. She shouldn't even have told them to stay longer from the start. Now she had to suffer for another she-doesnt-know-how-many minutes.

This sucks.

The door slid open and the three genins exited the house. As Shimiko watched them leave down the path, she called out to Sasuke as quietly as possible.

"S-Sasuke-san!"

The Uchiha turned around to stare at the girl who tried not to flinch at his gaze. Goddamn, why does he never smile?

"A-About your clan....." she quietly spoke. "Don't...get hurt. I don't think....your family would want you to do stupid things."

 Sasuke clenched his fists. "Don't act like you know me."

"You want revenge for your clan, don't you?" Shimiko asked nervously.

"Kakashi told you that?" Sasuke scoffed. "You're just a kid who barely knows anything."

Shimiko flinched, resisting the urge to shut the door close as his cold gaze landed on her. She could feel shivers down her spine, as if his gaze was piercing through her.

"Stop...acting like you know how terrible this world is."

"I..." Shimiko stammered as he turned around to leave.

"It doesn't make sense...." she choked out in tears. 

'Nothing about this world does.'
