JONATHAN'S POV

I was trying to play in my room, but Danny kept interfering. I don't know why father bothered to get him! He's mean and always bites at me. I hate this dog!

"JONATHAN! Come down here at once!" I heard father call to me down the stairs.

I better run down there before I upset Father!

Right as I started running out of my room to get downstairs that annoying Danny ran and barked after me.

That darn mutt is going to get me in a lot of trouble!

Finally, I made it downstairs.

"Yes, father?" I said.

Only he wasn't alone. He wasn't with any of our butlers and maids either. Instead, there were two strangers behind him. It was a pretty woman and a little girl. Maybe she was the pretty woman's sister? Anyway, that annoying Danny went up to them and began sniffing the strangers. The little girl began to pet Danny.

Oh boy, it's gonna be a big problem when he bites her just like he bites me. Maybe Father will finally give this mangy mutt away once he sees that he's no good.

But he never bit the girl or the woman.

He just let that little girl pet him!? This stranger that he's never even met!? Stupid dog, why can't he act that way with me!? What's so special about this little girl that he hasn't bitten her! She's smiling, probably because she thinks he's cute, but she doesn't know how mean he really is.

"I'd like you to meet our newest caregiver, Rosemary Mills, and her daughter, Y/N. Ladies, this is my son, Jonathan, and his new companion, Danny."

Daughter? And here I thought that was her little sister.

"Hello, it's nice to meet you Lady Rosemary", I said as I bowed at the two.

She smiled. "Hello, Jonathan. It's a pleasure to meet you too!"

She wasn't from around here, this woman talks differently than anyone I've ever met. The woman laid her hands on her daughter's shoulders and gently pushed her towards me.

"This is my daughter. Say 'hello' Y/N." she said. There was a short pause before the girl said something.

"Hello," she said looking down at the floor. She must be shy.

This woman is a really pretty mother, but they both look so dirty. Why would they come to see father wearing those ripped-up rags? No one's ever come here looking like this.

"Rosemary and Y/N have come from their home in Ireland. They'll both be living in this household from this day forward. You are to treat them both with the same courtesy and respect you treat me and the other caregivers with" he demanded.

"Right sir. I will." I replied.

So they're not from here. That explains why the woman sounds so different from how we sound.

"Why don't you show Y/N your room? You can show Y/N to her room as well. It'll be the one next to yours on the left." said Father.

I looked over at the girl whose cheeks were now pink. Then I looked back at Father.

"Yes, Father," I replied.

I walked over to Y/N and quickly grabbed her hand.

"C'mon, Y/N," I said as I began taking her upstairs.

When we reached the top of the stairs I let go of her hand.

"Follow me, Y/N," I said.

She did as she was told and it was then that I noticed she wasn't talking. She wasn't responding to anything I was saying. I decided to show her to her room first and then show her mine. Hers was right before my room after all.
