Seven years ago -- Christmas Eve
Y/N's POV
It was Christmas Eve and Master Joestar was throwing his annual Christmas ball. The faint sound of music and chatter could be heard upstairs.
It was a beautiful white Christmas this year with the snowfall. Despite it always being freezing during this time I always had to wear a dress. Mother insisted on dressing me in a crimson velvet dress with white knee-high stockings and black shoes. On top of that, she tied my hair with a matching ribbon. It all looked so childish.
Normally we'd open gifts the next morning, but I wished to give Dio his present as soon as possible. I just couldn't wait.
Since his fight with Jojo, Dio has really changed. He's really become like another member of the family.
I held his gift in my hands. Mother had wrapped it with newspapers and topped it off with a red bow. She knew how to make wrapping look really nice.
As I was walking through the upstairs hallway, I ran into Mother. I guess I was too busy admiring the wrapping job of hers.
"Y/N, pay attention when you walk. It's very impolite to run into someone, especially when you could have prevented it." she exclaimed, brushing off her dress.
"Yes, Ma'am." I answered. Mother continued to walk.
"Wait! Mother, you wouldn't happen to know where Dio is, would you?" I politely asked.
"Well, I believe I saw him downstairs in the den. Why do you ask?"
"Just wondering. Thank you, Mother!" I shouted, practically running away.
Thank goodness he's not in the ballroom. I really don't feel like going back there and talking to Master Joestar's guests.
When I got to the den, Dio was still there. He was leaning gainst the fireplace with his forearm.
"Dio!" I shouted, catching his attention.
"Y/N. What are you doing here?" he asked. "Why aren't you at the ball?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "Just didn't feel like being there I suppose."
"I see." he replied.
"Uh, actually I wanted to give you an early Christmas present." I said, holding the wrapped gift in front of him.
"Normally, we open gifts on Christmas morning, but I'm so inpatient when it comes to giving gifts. I'm always so excited to see the receivers open them! I already gave Jojo his."
He looked surprised. "A gift? You didn't have to, Y/N."
I smiled as he took the item from my hand. "It's fine it's nothing big, but I'm certain you'll be quite pleased."
Dio ripped the newspaper wrapping and unveiled the gift.
It was a leather-cover journal along with a black and gold fountain pen.
There was also a black and gray framed photo of Dio, Jojo, and I together.
Dio looked very happy. "These are wonderful gifts, Y/N. I shall use this journal as a diary." He chuckled, holding up the book. "And this pen, it's beautiful."
When it came to the photo, Dio had almost no expression.
"Do you like the photograph? I always liked that you look so serious and grumpy." I said, laughing.
