Y/N's POV
Mandisa would always lock the trunk shut whenever the time came for me to sleep. Sometimes I'd wake up in the evenings when the sun was still just barely out.
I would always knock 4 times on the inside to let her know I was awake. If she didn't immediately unlock the trunk, it meant it still wasn't safe to be out yet. Instead, she'd knock on the outside twice. That was all I needed to let me know the sun was still out...
Waking up this time, the trunk was quickly unlocked and opened by Mandisa.
The wagon was dimly lit by lanterns as usual.
Instead of being hit by the scent of incence sticks and lavender, my sense of smell was immediately hit with the scent of blood and... rotting flesh? It was absolutely rancid and nauseating.
IT SMELLS LIKE A DEAD ANIMAL!
"You're finally awake, Y/N." she greeted.
I sat up from my laying position in the trunk and quickly covered my nose.
"What's wrong?" Mandisa was concerned.
What does she mean?! Can't she smell what I do?!
I was still covering my nose tightly with both of my hands. "That scent... Don't you smell it?"
Mandisa gazed at me with confusion. "I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about, Y/N."
If she can't smell this disgusting, horrendous stench, it must not be near here. There's no way anyone could ignore it.
I lept out of the trunk and bursted through the wagons door. Mandisa followed.
"Y/N, what's wrong?" she asked, concern in her tone.
I turned back to her. "Where is Jojo?"
She was silent for a moment before she answered. "He, Zeppeli, and Speedwagon are gone. I'm not sure where they went off to. All I know is that trouble came about... and now they're gone."
They went off. And I'm not around to help them...
"Great." I muttered sarcastically.
I'm stronger than I could have ever imagined being as a human. But what good is my strength and abilities if I can only use them when it's dark. My friends need me at all times, but I can't be there for them.
I felt myself growing angrier by the second. My fists were clenched tightly.
"I'm leaving." I replied, feeling irritated.
"W-what? But where are you going?" she asked.
"There's a fowl stench I'm picking up in the air." I explained. "I'm going to follow it and see what's going on."
I didn't give Mandisa a chance to reply before I sped off.
The scent is coming from up north. Head in that direction.
✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆The smell continued to get worse and worse the closer I got.
Finally, I arrived at a village about 20 miles away from where I came from. According to a sign, the village was called Wind Knights Lot. Only there was no one here. Not a single person in sight. It was a ghost town and frankly, it was giving me the chills. The bad and creepy kind...
