"This might be a little cold." The doctor smiles and puts the freezing gel on my stomach, I try to stay still, but I can't help the sudden chill that makes my body shiver. Alex laughs as I try play the shiver off as excitement, as once again Alex proves that his knowledge of me, is incredible.
The doctor rubs the sonogram wand around my stomach, spreading the gel as she looks for the little baby that had been occupied there for the last few months. Alex rubs the back of my hand in anticipation, knowing that today we would probably know what kind of child I could be having.
"Are we wanting to know the sex?" She asks me, I look toward Alex, making sure that he wants to know - as the certified godfather. We had spoken about it, and we both wanted to know, but it was still good to check.
"Yes, I think if we wait any longer I'll explode." Alex smiles, making the doctor laugh.
"Lucky for us, the baby seems to want you to know what they are." She smiles at us, before stepping closer to the screen and points her finger in certain areas, making sure we know what the baby looks like at this stage. Then the moment of truth. "If we look over here, I'm not sure if you'll be able to tell, but that right there gives us the answer of what you'll be having. Have you placed bets onto what it'll be?" She smirks at us, knowing that I had told her about Julie and the boys having bets on what the baby will end up being.
Alex lowers his head with a smirk on his face as he mumbles a "yes."
"And what were you betting on?" The doctor asks.
"A boy, but obviously I'll be more then happy with anything." He smiles at me, knowing that if he says the wrong thing, I'll probably end up crying (hormones ammi right.)
"We'll, looks like you're about to be a rich man then, congratulations you're having a baby boy." I smile at Alex, knowing he's been wanting a nephew since we found out I was pregnant. He lets out a rather loud "whooooop" and spins around in celebration.
"I'll let you get cleaned up while I get the pictures for you, and I assume you want the usual extras for Julie and the boys?" She asks me, and I nod my head with excitement.
The doctor walks out, leaving Alex and I alone, surrounded by the excitement that seemed to be radiating off us both.
"I'm gonna be a dad." He mutters, as I clean off the gel, and pull up my pants.
"That's not how this works." I smirk at him and jump off the table, to wrap my arms around him, trying to help him escape from the excited yet shocked state he was in.
"I know, but I've been thinking about it, and every kid deserves a dad, even one that's not at all related to them." He smiles down at me, and I watch as his eyes light up at the idea that had just entered his mind. "Lift up your shirt."
My eyes widen, as I clearly misunderstand the reason for the command.
"Not like that." He giggles, "I just wanna have a talk with the little man."
I can't help but admire his need to be a good godfather, even before the baby is born. I slowly lift up my shirt as Alex squats down, to be in direct contact with my bump.
"Hi baby. I'm your godfather, I'm sure you've heard my voice a million times before, but I just want you to know that I'm really excited to meet you, so is your mom, and the boys, and Julie, overall everyone is really excited for you to be here, but take your time, there's no rush for you to come to us anytime soon, we just want you to come when you're ready. We'll see you in a few months little man, and don't worry, I'll give you a sick name."
Just as Alex finishes talking, the nurse comes back in with 6 envelopes for the boys and us, we thank her and head back to our house, where we'll be meeting the boys to tell them the news.
"After you." Alex opens our front door and steps out the way for me, making sure I got in first before walking in himself And closing the door.
"I wonder when the guys will get-" I walk into our kitchen and see the other 2 boys rummaging through our cupboards and fridge in search of something to eat.
"There here." Alex laughs. "How did you get in?" All of their heads whip to us, with smiles on their faces, they engulf Alex and I into a hug.
"So, am I going to be an uncle or an aunt." Reggie says excitedly.
"That's not - never mind." Alex tries to start but knows that it's never going to work.
"Unfortunately, you all owe Alex money, it's a boy." I say, and in response, all the boys pick Alex up and throw him around as the scream and laugh at his success, completely forgetting that they each owe Him $100 each.
"How about some love for the one that's carrying the baby." I put my hands on my hips, waiting for the attention I deserve. Luke was the first to let go of Alex and wrap his arms around me, making all the others follow in his footsteps.
