The tapping on my glass window, was what woke me up, but what kept me awake was the reason for the tapping.

I climb out of bed and walk to the window to see what the problem is. I look down and see Luke throwing the pebbles from one of the pot plants, at my window. I open the window and start laughing at him. When he realizes I'm there, he signals for me to open the back door, before he disappears behind the house.

"What are you doing here?" I laugh.

"I needed to get away for a little while." He shyly smiles at me. I understand immediately and let him inside.

"We need to be quiet, but what can I do for you?"

"Be a distraction." He begs.

"Baking?"

"Baking." He confirmed.

"Come on then."

I grab his arm and pull him toward the kitchen. I get out the brownie mix and the tray and put it all on the counter.

I walk to the islands chairs and sit down. I stare at Luke until he gets the hint to start baking. Unfortunately for me - he never gets the hint.

"Get on with it." I say to him with a smile.

He proceeds to mix everything together - and eventually adds the mixture to a pan. Surprisingly he does this without making an awful mess of the kitchen.

He puts the pan into the oven and turns to me.

"Better?" I ask.

"Much better." He smiles at me and sits on the stool nearest to me.

"So you wanna talk about it?" I say, not wanting to overstep, but also to show him my worry.

"I would rather forget about it for tonight, let reality sink in another time."

"Well, I'm sure that stuffing our face with brownies and watching Disney movies in my room will help?"

"That is the best idea I've ever heard." He chuckles.

"You wait down here for the brownies, I'll be making us a fort upstairs." I start walking away when I remember, "also don't wake my parents, they will make you go home if they catch you here."

He puts his hand on his head and salutes me. I smile and continue walking up to my room. When I get there I quickly pack away old clothes and shuffle things around in my room as quietly as I can, so we can have a fort.

I suddenly hear my door open, resulting in me popping my head out from under the fort to see who it is, leaving a very entertained Luke standing at my door, trying to contain his laughter.

He quickly enters my fort and puts the brownies down in front of us, handing me a spoon, he digs in to the still hot brownie mixture.

"So how's things with the band?" I put the spoon in my mouth and look at him.

"Things are going well so far, I think everyone's been having a hard time recently. It's nice to escape from everything for a few hours when we have band practice."

"You know, I'm still offended that you haven't invited me to one of them."

"Didn't know you needed an invite to come. You're always welcome, and even if you weren't, we wouldn't be able to stop you."

"Damn straight. So, what movie are we thinking?"

"Beauty and the beast?"

"Perfect."

I get up and retrieve the VHS of beauty and the beast and put it into the player. I go sit back down with Luke, who shuffles closer to me and puts his arm around me.

"Thank you for this, I know it was late, but I really appreciate the support from you." He whispers.

"Anything for you." I kiss his cheek and turn toward the movie once more.
