"Can you believe this?" Luke shouts as we walk down the street toward the small building, that could lead us to our future success. "This radio station can make us into stars. Imagine playing arenas and traveling all around the world."
"Imagine all the food we can test." Reggie pointed out, practically drooling just thinking about it.
"We'll just focus on this for now, the arenas can wait." Alex was clearly annoyed at the other two - he was never much of an optimist, but I can't exactly blame him.
"Yeah, just focus on the now, you might get an inflated ego if you think about the future too much." I say, mostly directing it toward Luke.
"And that's why I'm glad you're in the band, always keeping me grounded." He wraps his arm around my shoulder and puts his head on my shoulder, as we reach the station.
"Do you know where to go?" Alex asks me. I quickly shake my head, signaling that it was Alex's turn to take control of the band and make sure we're on time for the interview. He walks up to the receptionist, who seems to acknowledge Alex as more of a bother then a real person.
"You nervous?" Bobby asks me, as he walks up to stand beside me.
"Nah, I did a lot of public speaking in school, so how hard can this be." He smiles at me, before walking toward Alex, who is calling us all to follow him.
After walking down a few corridors and almost getting hit by a door, we made it to where we were meant to be.
I watched as the receptionist who was leading us all the way there, waved over the radio host, making him go on a commercial break, before walking out to greet us.
He was an older looking man, who reminded me of Santa clause, just a lot more rock and roll.
He looked us all, up and down, before finally introducing himself.
"I'm Harry, you'll be with me for the next thirty minutes. Don't speak when I'm speaking, and don't touch anything. Got it?" His thick British accent made it harder to understand him, but I assume he tones it down when on air.
Well, it wasn't a very friendly greeting, but I don't think any of us were expecting a welcoming committee, after all, we were nobodies.
"Right let's get a move on, all of you sit down there." He points to five seats opposite to where he was previously sitting. We all quietly sit, awaiting the chance for us to talk freely. I could tell that Bobby was the most uncomfortable with the direct orders we were given, he was always the person who hated rules.
"We're on in 10 seconds, I'll introduce you and that's when you'll talk." He didn't even give us a chance to answer, before he turned around and proceeded to get everything ready.
His voice cut through the studio as he welcomed his listeners back.
"That song you just heard was the newest single from Green Day. Up next, we're going to be having a chat with the up and coming band, sunset curve. These guys haven't been around for too long, but I'm the short time that they've been on the scene, they've definitely left their trail. Everyone welcome Sunset Curve."
The boys and I bellowed out our hellos, to make sure our presence was known.
"Welcome to the show, I'm sure it'll eventually be an honor to have you here." I can already tell that this is going to be filled with backhanded compliments.
"I'm sure eventually we'll be happy to be here." I say back to the host, seeing as the rest of the guys were in shock over what had just been said.
I watched as the host gave me a scowl, but I just smiled and urged him to carry on.
"Now, you guys haven't been around for a long time, but you seem to be moving at a very fast pace on the road to fame." Of course he didn't believe a word he was saying, but his voice alone could've fooled me.
"Yeah, we've only been together for two years, but it's safe to say that we've all worked extremely hard to get where we are today." Luke answers.
"And yet your biggest gig to date, is at the local library?"
"Yeah, we have just been trying to get our name out there." Reggie answers - not seeing anything wrong with that the host had said.
"And yet I've never heard of you, gotta step up your game guys." He tries to pull it off as a joke, but it's just plain malicious.
"We'll, at least we're trying to get where we want to be on our own, isn't it true that your dad owns this radio station, Harry?" I smirk at him.
"Funny one you are, it's rare to see a newer member being so loud, might want to keep it down, the others might want you out soon."
"I don't think they would kick me out for standing up for the hard work that they've put into this band."
"No need to get defensive, I'm just pointing it out." He seemed to carry on with the interview, but I knew he was hating every second of us being there.
When the interview was finally over, the host began to play 'Now or Never' while saying goodbye to us.
If I'm honest, I don't know if he was saying goodbye, because as soon as he started playing our song, I got up and left - I wasn't gonna waste my time on a man who couldn't even be somewhat nice to his guests.
The boys seemed to get my anger (and they agreed) which meant we left old Harry in his studio, looking like an idiot.
Although the act might've been petty, it was deserved, and in my opinion it was pretty funny too.
