"Just try be nice to him, please." I say as I walk out the room, where my parents where currently sat, to answer the door for Reggie, who decided that tonight, he would finally meet my parents.

"Hey Reg, come on in." He steps inside with a smile, giving me a hug after I close the door. "You ready for this?"

"Let it be known that this was your idea, so if it goes wrong, I'm blaming you." I smile at him and grab his arm, to lead him to the lounge.

"Mom, dad, this is Reggie." I introduce. Mom instantly gets up and gives Reggie a warm greeting, while dad just nods at him.

"Would you please help me in the kitchen?" Mom asks me, I nod and follow her.

"Did you tell your father that Reggie is just a friend?"

"I was, but then I thought, nah. I like making him moody for no reason." I laugh.

Suddenly Reggie comes into the kitchen, looking panicked, and shocked.

"What's wrong?" I ask him, while I eat a piece of lettuce from the salad, currently waiting on the island counter.

"I didn't know we were dating?" He shouts. I turn to my mom and laugh.

"we aren't reg, don't worry. I just didn't tell my dad that we were just friends, so he assumed we were together."

"Why couldn't you do this with Luke? I don't do well under pressure."

"Because Luke is one of my oldest friends kids, we know that he wouldn't date a family friend." Mom explains.

"It just date me in general, because that would make things weird." I add.

"I think it's time for dinner, Reggie have a seat in the dining room, we'll bring the food through now." Mom refers to me and her. I grab a bowl of food and make my way to the dining room.

When all the food is set out, we all sit down - I'm next to Reggie - and start dishing up. I can see that throughout the dinner my dad is glancing in reggies direction, making sure he isn't causing any trouble.

We all hear a knock on the door, so mom gets up to open it.

"So Reggie, what kind of income are you making at this point in your life." Dad asks. I instantly burst out laughing, not only does dad, not like Reggie, but he also thinks that I'll be stuck with him for the rest of my life.

"Not a lot, I'm in a band right now." He answers.

"Yeah dad, he's in a band with Luke and Alex." I add on.

"Alex and Luke? The Patterson's Luke?"

"The exact one." Reggie confirms.

"Speaking of which, look who decided to pay us a visit." Mom walks back in with someone behind her. Soon like pops out and says hello to everyone.

"Why are you here?" I ask him.

"Well, who would pass up the opportunity of eating your moms cooking, but I also came here because your mom told my mom, that Reggie was coming for dinner, wanted to see how that was going."

"Well Luke, I have learned that Reggie
Here is in a band with you and Alex." Dad states, as more of a question.

"Oh yeah we are, we aren't big yet, but once we are, we'll have all the girls knocking down our doors." Luke exaggerates.

"Now why would Reggie want that when he's already in a committed relationship." Dad spits.

"Reg? You didn't tell me you were in a relationship." Luke's face shows pure disappointment.

"I'm not." Reggie mutters - clearly scared of my fathers reaction.

"You're not? Are you saying that you've been unfaithful." My dad shouts and although, I can tell, Reggie is really really scared, I can't help but laugh.

"No I would never!" Reggie panics.

"Why are you so angry at him, it's not like you're the one he's dating." Luke says to my dad.

"I have reason to be upset when he's dating my child!"

"What?" Luke laughs hard when he looks at Reggie and I. "I'm not sure how to tell you this, but they aren't dating, believe me I would be the first to know if they were."

"You're not?" Dad looks at me, I shake my head with a small laugh.

"Well this just got awkward, come on Reggie, let's get out before things get even worse." Luke walks round to Reggie and basically pulls him out of the house, thanking my mom for a lovely dinner on the way out.

"So that was my friend Reggie." I laugh, as dad rolls his eyes and leaves the room, leaving mom and I alone to laugh at his assumptions.
