The Day They Became Leaf Shinobi, Unofficially

Naruto and Sasuke both ended up getting to the top of their trees, Sasuke ended up saving Naruto in the end.

"196...197...198..." 

"I keep meaning to ask you, you know I duped you about how dangerous this mission was to get you to come here... so why do you stay?

" 'To know what is right and choose to ignore it is the act of a coward,' " Kakashi recited while he did push ups with one finger, Tazuna on his back and Sakura on his legs. "Those are the teachings of some of our previous lords Hokage. This is the shinobi way of life, true shinobi do not merely dance to the tune of whoever pays the piper." It looks like I'm almost completely healed.

Zabuza held an apple in his palm and crushed it, "Most of your strength has returned."

"Excellent! Let's get going, Haku!"

"Of course."

The moon was high in the night sky as Sasuke and Naruto stood and gripped onto the point of the trees. "Want to head back?" Sasuke grinned, sweat dripped down from his face.

Naruto grinned as well, "Sure!" Sweat falling from his face as well.

"So your finally back!" Tazuna announced, "Look like something the cat dragged in!"

Sasuke supported Naruto as they told of their accomplishments and Kakashi telling them they will be joining in protecting Tazuna at the bridge and than they all sat at the table.

Inari's eyes glistened with tears as he began to shout, saying how they'll never survive against Gato's thugs. Naruto becomes angry as he leaves the table.

Inari sat on the porch looking out into the water. "May I join you?" he looks back to see Kakashi. "You know, Naruto's kind of a brat, but he wasn't trying to be mean or hateful, he just lacks finesse." Inari was silent. "Mr. Tazuna told us about what happened to your father, Naruto grew up without a father, same as you. Actually, without any parents. He doesn't remember either one of them or have a single friend, his whole life is one painful memory."

"R-really?"

Kakashi goes on and explains how Naruto tries the hardest, in hopes of a good word, a pat on the shoulder. "I think one day he must have just gotten fed up with crying. He understands what it means to be strong he knows what it costs and what it's worth, just as your father did."

"What about Sasuke?"

"Well, his entire clan was killed in one night."

Inair sat there for a moment, "... What about Haji? He's your son right? From what I hear he doesn't talk. Is he ever going to wake up?"

Kakashi sighed. "Haji.... His village was attacked by rogue ninja, his mother killed as well but before she died she told him to come to my village and find me."

"You didn't live with him before?"

"No, not until he was four years old and wondered into the Leaf village. As for his silence that's just something he does on purpose, I'm not sure why he doesn't want to talk. And I'm sure he'll wake up soon." He gave Inari a closed eye smile.

The Next Day

"Well, please take care of Naruto and Haji. Naruto has worn himself out, I doubt he'll be able to move the rest of the day, and Haji hasn't woken up yet."

All of team seven and Tazuna, excluding Naruto and Haji, left the house to the bridge.

"Are you ready to attack?" Gato said into a ear piece, "Zabuza, pay attention!"
