The Time A Cat Became Scared

"Can the two entrants please come to the front, everyone else clear the battle ground and on to the upper level," Hayate coughed a few times. Everyone started up the stairs Naruto spotting Kakashi began to shout for him as he walked to Haji.

"Haji," He tore his eyes from Mari who was a few feet away, talking to Nobuo and Kazu, and looked at his father. "Good luck, be careful." Kakashi ruffled Haji's hair than lowered to his ear, "Don't use those justu's, got it?"

Haji stared at the ground than looked back to Mari as her two comrades left her and she stared back at him, smirking. His eyes filled with a hollowed depression, his face was a sickly pale and mouth dry, Haji's stomach although empty from lack of food, turned in side him as he began to feel sick. The paling of skin and anxious posture didn't go unnoticed.

"Haji?" Kakashi asked getting ready to shake his shoulder to snap him out of it.

"I would like to start now Kakashi," Hayate stated staring worriedly at Haji.

Kakashi sighed and rubbed Haji's head again as he walked up to the upper level.

Everyone was now at the top and stood waiting for the match to begin. hayate stepped forward. "Are you two ready?"

"Heh," Riko grinned from her seat next to Batya and Mamoru, Mamoru stiffened. "This should be fun to watch," her eyes crossed over to her oldest son seeing him tense, "Seems you've taken a liking into the kid, eh son?"

"..."

Riko chuckled than jumped up raising her fist in a cheering motion as fire lite up in her eyes, "You go and get 'em Mari! Ahohoho! Don't kill the brat though he seems interest I might just take him as my one and only grandchild! Ahohoho."

"Mother..." Nobuo sighed annoyed.

"WHAT! If you two lazy bums would go and get you a wife and give me a few grandchildren I wouldn't be so uptight!" Riko growled.

"Don't worry Lady Riko! I wont hurt him...," Mari smirked getting in a fighting position, "...much."

Hayate looked between Haji and Mari than at Riko before saying, "Alright, begin!"

Before anymore words or cheers were said, Mari dashed forward at lightening speed punching Haji square in the face. His head snapped to the side as he landed hard in the wall making a grater.

Team seven was shocked as well as several others that new how Haji fought.

"Come on Haji! What the hell was that? Even I could have dodged that you teme!" Naruto fumed from his position, getting ready to jump down and kill Haji himself.

Haji feel from the wall landing on his hands and knees, a drop of blood slide down the side of his mouth. He wiped it away looking back up at Mari. "Heh," she rubbed under her nose, "Since I punched ya so hard I'll give you a chance to attack first. How about it kid?" Haji just sat there gazing at her with sad eyes which she took as pity. "What the hell is wrong with you brat? Get the hell up!"

Haji looked back down and stumbled up limply and stared at her once again. Mari waited and waited for him to attack, but he didn't budge. They merely stared at one another waiting.

"Come on Haji!" Choji cheered, "If you win I'll give you some of my favorite kinds of chips maybe even share some of my Barbecue!"

"Yeah! Lets go Haji," "You can do it!" Sakura and Ino shouted.

Why isn't he moving? Shikamaru thought to himself.

Kakashi narrowed his eyes at his son.
