Chapter 1

Caterina

I woke up to the sun shining through our window, I told Tina to close the damn curtains before sleeping ugh, I turned the other way from the light trying to get back to sleep but of course, that's not possible in our early rising house

"Dio! Wake up you useless girls, what kind of girls sleep till 10 am, wake up!" I heard mama's voice and a slap on my ass "Ugh mama, Tina kept me awake till 3 am, let me sleep" I mumbled and tried to get under the covers but mama ripped it off me.

"Mama!" I scolded as I sat up rubbing my eyes. I squinted to see mama doing the same to Tina's blanket earning another mumble from her, she is a bigger deep sleeper than I am, not even a bomb blast in the house could wake her up.

I hear mama mumble more about some guest arriving soon as I rubbed my eyes trying to get used to the light as I saw Damon leaning against the door with a glass in his hands.

I smirked at him as he did too in return and I took a water bottle from the mini-fridge under my bedside table then turned towards him waiting for him to give me the signal. I removed the cap and I heard "Now!" and I jumped out of my bed with him as he poured his glass of water on Tina and I did the same with my ice-cold water on the other side.

"CATERINA!" I heard my sister jolted up from the water and before I knew it me and Damon took off running out of the room "YOU GUYS ARE SO DEAD!" I heard her scream from outside the room as me and Damon ran laughing maniacally.

We stopped at the kitchen still laughing as I bent down trying to catch my breath "She is most definitely killing you first" Damon said as he took his cup towards the coffee maker.

"What me, you did it too" I said smiling as he drank his coffee "You used cold water" he said making my eyes open wide "Shit" I muttered earning a laugh from him. We heard mama before she even entered "Crazy kids, I've birthed monsters, complete utter monsters" she mumbled as she came into the kitchen.

Damon chuckled a little as he put his arm around her "Oh come on mama, I can't be a monster I'm too handsome remember" he said while I gave him a fake gag. He flipped his finger on my forehead "OWH! Mamaaaa!" I whined but she did not even move to react.

"Stop whining and go take your sister and get a proper dress for dinner tonight" mama said as she started on breakfast for me and Tina, well her full name is Valentina but we call her Tina at home while everyone calls me Rina most of the time as well.

"Dress for what? Who is coming?" I asked propping myself up on the chair near the island as I plopped some cut-up fruits in my mouth. Mama gave me that look that told me everything merda this can't be happening

"You can't be serious" I said jumping down from the chair then stood beside mama "Mama I haven't even graduated yet, papa promised that I would graduate first" I said trying to turn her towards me.

She sighed "And your papa will keep that promise bambina" she said grazing my cheeks with her fingers "Valentina is marrying first, yours will be after but both marriages have to be discussed, the dinner is a way of welcoming" she said then continuing with preparing breakfast.

"You know how this works bambina, I have already told you what to expect when the time comes" she finished. "Who?" was all I wanted to know, who was I tying my life to? Are they brothers? Will me and Tina live together? So many questions were running in my head.

"Volkov" mama said in a softer voice as if wishing she didn't have to say it herself, I whipped my eyes up at her "MAMA! You can't be serious!" I scolded How could they pick the worst pair of brothers to marry us? This can't be happening, this is a dream, I am still peacefully sleeping upstairs and dreaming of this ridiculous thing happening.

"What's all the shouting down here" I heard papa's voice as he enters looking up at mama and me then sighing "You told her?" he asked mama to which she nodded. He walked up and gave mama a kiss on the head as he moved to grab a glass for his morning coffee.

"Papa, of all the choices you picked Volkov?" I asked as he prepared his coffee "You know I will always do the best for you and your sister, have I ever given you both a reason to doubt my decisions" he said in his fatherly tone making me shut up.

He walked over to me "I've worked with them for years now, they are good people and will take care of both of you" he took a sip of his coffee and tilted my head up towards his eyes. "I want my daughters living the life they deserve, I know what's best for you both and I will do whatever is necessary for it" he said and that shut me up again.

Papa had always put us first and always did the best for all of us though I know papa is benefiting in some way from this deal. I mean it's quite clear, a marriage alliance well two marriage alliances between the Italian and Russian could probably blow up in our world because now they are officially connected by family.

All I always wanted to is to please papa and to see that smile on his face so I sighed looking at him "I know papa" I said and he smiled making me smile "You will graduate as you wanted to so, that I can give you" he pulled up my chin again making me look at the same brown eyes Valentina has "Happy?" he asked like he always did ever since we were little, he always wanted us happy.

I smiled "Yes, thank you papa" I hugged papa as he did in return. I should be grateful that I actually got to graduate first before all this marriage thing which I knew one day was bound to happen anyway.
