Chapter 20

Caterina

I stood up and without saying anything made my way towards the garden I went to yesterday. I knew they would follow me and they did so silently as I walked out towards where the flowers were.

I heard them whisper to each other for a few minutes and frustrated I turned and glared at them "Well, spit it out" I said waiting for their explanation, whatever they wanted to say.

They looked at each other and Damon sighed "Rina..." he started softly but I was not having any of it, they lied to me that too for I don't know how many years. "All we wanted was you safe, we just wanted to keep you away from whatever papa was planning" he said towards me almost sadly.

Valentina stood behind him silently trying to hide away from me "Well, don't you have anything to say my beloved sister who lied to my face" she stiffened as if I stabbed her, good let her feel how I felt when I heard her say all the lies she told me.

"Rina..." she said almost so softly with her sad eyes but I was not having any of it. "That night, after the dinner I asked you... I asked you if you had something to say to me... You could come clean to me but you chose not to" I said angrily

"I heard your conversation on the phone which now I'm assuming was with him" I pointed at Damon and he looked guiltily "You both don't get to play victim here, I am, you lied to me!" I said out angrily but it came out as a sob.

"Rina... please" Damon touched my shoulder but I stepped away "No, you don't touch me, you don't get to do that after all that lies you've told me" I said turning away because if I looked at them any longer I would break and cry and end up forgiving them.

"It was for your safety... We wanted nothing more than to protect you" I heard Tina from behind me and I stepped towards her angrily "My safety! You never told me that man who I lived with under the same roof wanted me dead! Not once did you warn me! You lied to my face every day and even on that night when I asked you! You never said anything to me and yet you justify your action by saying it was for my safety!" I screamed angrily without thinking and regretted it immediately after seeing the look on Tina's face.

Tina teared up looking at me trying to show me how much agony it was hiding it from me and I don't know how but I understood it by just looking at her. I regretted every word I just said just now and I wanted to apologize. "I'm so-" I was cut off when "Tina!" I heard Damon scream from behind me and Tina jerked towards me, falling against me.

I tumbled as her weight leaned on me suddenly as I tried to catch my step but fell to the ground with her. I sat up and felt Damon scream something but I could feel was warm liquid against my stomach and I look down to see red, it was blood everywhere.

Nothing came out of me as I moved Tina to the ground to see her abdomen covered in her blood, there was so much blood I didn't even know what to do as I heard Damon scream again towards someone in the background.

"T-T-Tina" I touched her pale face as she slowly blinked at me "I'm so-sorry" she stuttered out as she coughed out and I saw blood leak out of her mouth. My tears blurred my eyes as I tried to get my head back together.

I quickly placed my hand at where she was bleeding, trying to put pressure on it and I felt her grunt "No, y-you don't g-get to die on me n-now" I stuttered out as I felt all everything drains out of me seeing the amount of blood that's pooling under her.

I heard shouts and suddenly I felt people around us and I saw Dmitri who was the first to rush over to our side as he placed his hands over mine pushing into the wound even more.

"Damn it, get her up" I heard Dmitri curse as I felt another two figures appear behind me grabbing Tina up. I moved along with them still putting pressure into the wound as they carried her towards the neared bedroom.

They laid her down and I didn't not move an inch from the pressure I was holding. I didn't know I was lost until "Caterina!" Dmitri screamed at me and that jolted me looking at him. "I need you to put more pressure" he guided me to sit up on my knees putting my body weight on Tina's wound.

"Bar the windows, Ivan..." I heard someone speak but the rest of the sentence was lost to me as I looked at Tina's pale face. "P-Please s-stay" I felt my tear pour out of me like a dame as I saw her open her eyes a little looking at me "I-I l-l-love-e y-you-u" she said out so soft that no one but me could hear it.

My heart cracked a little looking at the small smile that set on her face as she closed her eyes "N-No, w-wake u-up!" I said louder trying to get her awake but it was no use.

Dmitri almost slammed all his things on top the table and I saw him wearing gloves and like an overall which made me confused. "Alex" he said towards him and he placed his hands over the wound instead.

"I don't think you want to be here for this" Dmitri said as he took what looked like a scalpel, I knew one because he used a similar one on me just few days ago.

I moved away reluctantly and felt someone tug on my arm. Luca lead me out slowly and I took one last look at Tina before he closed the door. "You're shaking" I heard Luca say as he pulled me into his arm trying to calm me down.

I slowly stepped away and looked at my palms which was all bloody from Tina's blood making me tear up again. Luca covered my palms with his trying to hide away the blood that was on my hands. It's my fault, it was all my fault, I lead her out, I made her go out in the open.
