We made it back to the Yevgeny's house as it was furthest from the restaurant and also if our territory was hacked in enough to cost an attack then going back to our home wasn't the safest idea which dad also agreed.
Now we sat in the living room clearly trying to sort out shit that went down but all I could focus on was Caterina who was frozen on her seat on the sofa she was sitting on. I heard her father's voice boom through from the other side of the house which made her flinch a little.
Her father was talking to his men on the phone and my father was also with him trying to figure out a plan. Dmitri walked in looking at me then at Caterina as he slouched himself on one of the sofas.
Caterina was so in her thoughts she didn't even shift as her father walked in with her brother, he looked at her for a good minute before he made his way towards her grabbing her up "You want to explain what just happened there!" he shouted at her face which then she finally snapped out of whatever thoughts she was in.
I was about to interrupt but "Papa!" Damon shouted as he tried to pull them apart making Caterina stagger behind her brother. "She did nothing and you know it, calm the fuck down!" he said angrily to his father making him glare back at his son before stepping away taking a breath.
Caterina's mother and mine sat near the fire which was behind where we were sitting and I knew they could hear everything we were talking about. Damon turned around towards his sister and guided her back to her seat and she crouched down in front of her.
"You're the only one that close to her to tell us something Caterina, we're not blaming you but if you heard or know something useful we could use it right now" he said it in a softer tone.
I could physically see her hands shake as she turned to look at her brother and the look on her face made me want to burn the whole world down screaming for making her look with so much pain.
She looked up towards her brother then back at her father who had his back to her and she got up leaving the room. Damon sighed "Give her time" he said getting up to his feet "We don't have time since your sister decided now to break an attack into our territory" Dmitri snapped back frustrated with the whole situation.
"We still don't know the whole story" Damon steered back at him. "Enough" his father said "I want her alive, get Ruslan to run the tracker-" his sentence was cut off with Caterina walking into the room with something clutched in her hands.
She threw it on the table with anger and stood there "I did nothing! All I ever did was listen to you papa! And if even for a moment you think you can think that I had anything to do with what happen today then you must be so fucked up you don't even recognise your daughter!" she let a small sob at the end as she slumped down on the chair nearby.
Damon moved to see what Caterina had thrown on the table and I saw his face for a fraction of a second turn shock before he masked it up. Dmitri leaned forward to the table "Fucking CIA" he hissed.
"You got to be kidding me" he said and I then stepped forward to see a CIA identity card with Valentina's name on it, making it clear enough we had an undercover not only under our nose but in their own home.
I saw Nikolai stood staring at the identity card for a very long time before he picked it up "Ruslan" he called out and a guy popped at the doorway "Yes sir" he said and Nikolai threw the card at him and he caught it "Find out if that's an official card and I want every detail of how she got in and how she passed if she ever did, there's no way that she could do all that without help" he looked at Caterina then at Damon longer "Find out who helped her" was all he said and the guy bowed his head in respect then took off.
"We can't stay here, if that is true, Valentina has every strategy against us" Dmitri said towards my father who agreed "Get to the safe house, no one knows where it is," dad said to Dmitri "You're welcome to come but..." he said towards Nikolai but looked at Caterina.
"I'm not blaming your daughter Nikolai but we know right now, we can't trust her so I can't bring her in my safe house until we have safety shield" he finished and I couldn't take my eyes off Caterina the whole time.
She looked so heartbroken, lost and all I could feel was this weird feeling to just pick her up and keep her safe in my arms. Caterina stood up as she wiped her tears away "I'll stay at where Tina and I stayed during the last lockdown" her soft voice came out and she made her way out the room before her father could even respond but he didn't look like he wanted to say anything to her.
"I'll stay with her" Damon said towards Nikolai "No, you need to stay with your mother" Nikolai said making Damon clench his jaw "I'm not leaving her in a god damn safe house alone, she doesn't even know where the damn place is nor can she protect herself if there's an attack there" Damon said angrily to which Nikolai looked at him angrily and then turned away ignoring him. Damon stood there for a good 15 seconds staring at his father before he stepped out of the room.
"I'll go with her" I volunteered which made dad and Dmitri look at me "I'll stay with her, watch her and if what we know is true, there's a chance Valentina's first move will be through Caterina so if I am there it would give us an opportunity in" I finished
Nikolai looked like he was debating the whole thing including my father who exchanged a look with him but I just walked out leaving it to them whether they like it or not, I know I'm right and if my father is planning something behind our back this is my way to find out secretly.
