A Month Later - Late March

Good morning...who am I kidding? I haven't had a good morning in a while, so hello world, how's it going? I'm better than yesterday, and that's all that matters. I should probably fill you into what went down.

Flashback - The day of the breakup

I got home and quickly rushed inside. I threw myself to the bed and cried my eyes out. Logically I knew that this was the only way to go about my plan to stop Brad in his idiotic mission, but my heart wouldn't budge.

*knock, knock*

"Hey," Susan said as she gently opened the door, "are you okay?"

I punched down my feelings and said, "yes, can you do me a favour?"

"Of course," she said.

"Call up the editor of People Magazine," I said as I wiped my tears, "I want to set the record straight."

I told them everything, how he broke up with me for someone else; I even got Samantha herself to speak on the matter, she didn't like me very much, but she still agreed that what he did was wrong and couldn't go unpunished.

We exposed Brad for what he was, a prick, and so all of his previous claims were deemed not credible. Unfortunately, he went on to face harsh consequences in his job, but at that moment, I didn't care, so long that he wouldn't be publishing those things about my sister.

During the interview, a final question stuck out and made it hard to think I was doing the right thing.

"So, now that we have all of that information, there's just one more question to close this off," Sarah, the interviewer, said, "Are you dating Lewis Hamilton?"

I took a deep breath and answered, "No, I'm not."

This was the only way not to lie about being with Lewis or not push him into going public so soon. If he wasn't ready, we might have ended it because of the public attention that would shift to us now.

I eventually told Zan and Oliver what Brad said to me in our call one day when they came to my house after the article came out.

"You should have told me!" Zan insisted.

"What would that change?" I asked.

"I don't know, Y/n," she said, "but you didn't have to leave Lewis for me!"

"It wasn't for you," I clarified.

"Then what was that for?" she asked, "you were so happy!"

"I know, Zan!" I told her, "but he  didn't want to go public, and I wasn't about to make him do something he didn't want."

I paused, looked down and continued, "I know I was happy, and I miss him so much, but what was I supposed to do? Let you lose your reputation? I couldn't do that, Zan; what's done is done; I'd appreciate it if we wouldn't dwell on the matter anymore."

They stood up, hugged me, and she said, "I'm sorry."

"It's okay," I said as I wiped my tears and hugged them back.
