After a bit of tea with the ladies, I went into the garage to organize all the things Brad sent over. It felt weird to see it all boxed up. Every pot I bought for our kitchen, all the curtains for the living room and every other vase and even plants. Could he be more petty?
As I was finishing up, I hear a car pull up outside the garage, but I couldn't see what it was. Soon after, the living room door closed and my mom called me to the living room.
I was honestly not dressed that well, but I wasn't really trying to impress anyone. So with my yoga and sports bra, I went to the living room. We dear Lewis Hamilton. As always dressed impeccably, with a monochrome black look and his hair was still braided and pulled back.
"Lewis, this is..."
"Y/n," he interrupted his mom midway through her introducing us.
"You know each other?" She asked.
"Yes, we actually met this weekend," I clarified.
"Well isn't that a coincidence," my mom said, "tell us about it."
We both told the story about the weekend we had in Abu Dhabi. Seeing him now felt very nice, his voice gave me butterflies and his smile made me blush. Damn, Lando was right.
"That sounds a great weekend," Carmen said.
"It was," I responded.
"Did you ask her out yet?" Carmen asked and Lewis choked on his sip of water.
"What? It's just a question," my mom went to Carmen's defence.
"Yeah and she's a lovely girl!" Carmen added.
"Thank you, Carmen," I replied with my face properly looking like a tomato at this point.
"Alright, mom, how about let me do it on my own terms?" He asked.
"That's fair," she said.
"Too bad I don't do fair," my mom said.
"Mom!" I said embarrassed.
"What? I'm just being honest," she said and they both broke out in laughter.
"Lewis, would you like to go help in the other room?" I asked him.
"Yes, please," he said and we left to the garage.
"Sorry about my mom," I started the conversation.
"Sorry about mine too," he said and giggled.
"Did you know they knew each other?" I asked.
"Yes, but I didn't know she was your mom."
"It's a lovely surprise, though," I admitted, "I didn't think I'd see you so soon."
"So, you wanted to see?" He asked with a smirk.
At this point, I should just turn into a tomato.
"Maybe," I answered.
"Hard to get," he replied, "I can play."
Is he flirting with me? If he is I'm not mad at it. We continued to talk and he helped with assorting the box for my move tomorrow. I told him about my encounter with Lando and about the apartment I got.
"Wait, you don't have a car?" He asked shocked.
"No," I replied.
"Why not? How do you get around?"
"Well, cabs," I said, "and Brad used to drive around."
"Ohh," he said having regretted asking.
"Yeah," I said and immediately tried to change the subject, "Is this when you try to sell me a Mercedes?"
"I don't need to say much now do I?" He asked, "I mean you saw who builds the fastest cars."
"I've seen it on the track," I corrected him, "not the road."
"Ohh yeah?" He asked, "I have my car outside, let's go for a ride."
"Right now?"
"Yeah, why not?" He asked.
"Alright, give me a minute to change."
I went up to my room and put on a long coat, dress and warm stockings for the cold.
"Mom, we're going out," I told her.
"On a date?!" She immediately asked.
"Just a car ride," I clarified.
"I'll come back for you soon," Lewis told Carmen.
"Take your time, dear," she said.
"How much do you wanna bet they'll be by the window when we come back?" I asked.
He laughed and said, "£50."
"Deal," you said and you both shook hands.
We go outside and there it was, Lewis' Mercedes AMG GT, it was white and quite big for a car with two doors. We got closer and he opened the door by my side, let me in and closed it. I'm not being sarcastic this time, what a gentleman.
He hops in on the other side. The moment he pushes the start button, the beast comes to life, the engine roars and I'm more than impressed. I think he takes notice and revved the engine.
"This is so cool!" I say excitedly.
"Wait till we get on the road."
He pulled out of my mom's driveway, and for a few moments was driving normally. Little did I know he was trying to make it out of the residential areas. The moment he found an open road with almost no one around, he went off. For a moment he didn't even lift his foot from the gas.
"Lew, Lew, LEW, LEWIS!" I yelled as we got faster and faster.
At this point, my hands were on my face and I couldn't look at the road until he finally slowed.
"That was scary fast," I admitted.
"Sorry about that," he said, "I only kept going cause I liked hearing you scream my name."
"Is that you feel when you're on the tra..." I spoke but stopped midway having processed his comment.
I giggled, blushed and finally said, "That's nice to know, might be useful someday."
His face seemed as shocked as I was when he first said what he did before. His hand rubbed the back of his neck, his grin got bigger and he was lost for words.
"Is that you feel when you're on the track?" I asked to break the silence.
"Ahh," he started, "yeah, but with a lot more G force and stuff."
"Can I try?" I asked, "driving, I mean."
"Yeah, sure," he said and soon enough we changed seats and it was my turn to drive.
As you can imagine, I wasn't as good as he was but at least I didn't crash into anything or break any laws. I held my ground and even launched the car (went super fast) once. I got us back to my house and won a very important bet.
"Told you!" I said.
"Wow, I didn't think you'd win."
"You might be a winner on the track, but I know my mom," I said, and we both laughed.
Just as I was about to open the car door, he took my hand and asked, "what are you doing tomorrow?"
"I'm moving my things to my apartment."
"Need any help?" he asked.
"Are you sure?" I asked, "you don't have to Lew."
"I'll be here tomorrow at 9:00 a.m."
"Alright," I said, "I hope this isn't your way of working for £50."
He laughed and admitted, "it's my way of getting to do things on my own terms."
I smile and leave the car, I couldn't resist this level of cuteness and kindness.
This boy is going to be the death of me, isn't he?
