27th November

"We missed the train!" I panted with my hands rested on my knees after running from the photoshoot to the Underground.

"You'd think that after you'd make it as a model you'd get a personal driver or something," my sister, Zandra, says equally as tired.

"Says the renowned art consultant of London," I replied with a smirk.

My sister Zandra is an art consultant for many collectors in London, France, and Monaco. Zandra's very smart and the one who always has my back no matter what, that's what big sisters are for I guess. She's always traveling so having her home is always a great time, especially on her birthday.

"We are going to be so late," I said as I looked at the time.

"Yeah," she agreed, "and mom will kill us."

Our mom lives in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, just outside London and today is Zandra's birthday dinner and we both had work and insisted we'd be home on time.

"Let's just take a cab," I said, "it's your birthday, my treat."

"Ohh if this is what turning 25 is like, then I'm all for it."

"Let's just go," I put my arm around her and we walked up the stairs to go to catch a cab.

45 Minutes Later

"Mom!" Zandra shouted as we walked inside the house, "We're home!"

"Girls! Finally, dinner's on the table!" Mom shouted from the kitchen.

We both took off our multiple layers of clothing and made our way to the well-placed dining table where our mom was already sitting and waiting.

"Hi mom," Zandra said as she hugged her back.

"Hello, my gorgeous birthday girl," she got up to hug her back and give her many kisses.

"You have another daughter you know?" I asked.

"Of course, of course, come in here," she expected another arm and brought me into the embrace.

"Mom!" we're grown women," Zandra said.

"Yes, 25 and 22," she started to say, "where does the time go? Your father would be so proud of you both"

"Thank you, mom," we both said, and we all sat down at the table to eat.

It had been a while since we had all been together like this, so it was a very special evening. Zan blew out her candles and we just spent the evening talking.

"How was the shoot, by the way?" Zan asked.

"It was cool can't wait to see my cover in Elle," I said, "how was the exhibit?"

"Great, I got some pieces for clients," she mentioned, "But I'm gonna travel soon."

"Me too, actually," I said, "Brad is taking me with him to Abu Dhabi for the weekend, we leave tomorrow."

"You're still with him?" Zan asked.

"Yeah," my mom started, "isn't he a prick?"

"Mom!" I said, "we were going through a bad phase, but we are okay now."

"But he is so annoying," Zan mentioned.

"Whatever Zan," I said, "how's your prince, Oliver?"

"He is great," she responded, "wedding planning is stressful though."

"Well, thankfully you still have time," I mentioned, "your spring wedding will be a winner no matter what."

"Thanks, but I could use your help."

"No problem, when I come back I'll be all yours."

*phone vibrates*

I pick up my phone and see a text from Brad:

I'm outside, babe.

Aren't you coming in?

Nah, I'm very tired.
I just wanna go home.

Alright.
I'm coming out.

"Alright, my gorgeous family," I said, "Brad's outside."

"He's not even gonna come in?" Zan asked.

"He said he's tired," I responded.

"As I said, prick," mom said again, causing Zan to break out in laughter.

I rolled my eyes, got my things together, and hugged them both goodbye before walking out to the car.

"Hey, babe," I said.

"Hi, how was your sister's birthday?" he asked.

"It was sweet," I mentioned, "it was very nice to spend time as a family."

"That's nice," he said, "I don't think Zan likes me."

"What?" I said sarcastically, "I don't think so."

"Whatever," he mentioned, "so we are leaving for Abu Dhabi tomorrow."

"I know, I told them."

"I just found that I'm going to be super busy all weekend," he said, "Sky Sports has me doing interviews all weekend."

"Should I even come?" I asked.

"Of course, you can finally watch the sport that keeps me so busy all the time," he said as we drove into the city.

Honestly, I have never been that interested in Formula 1, so I was just going to be with him. When we're home, he is working. We never go on dates because he is on his phone working, at this point I don't even know what he does at work.

"You're not even gonna have time for a date? Or explore the city?" I asked.

"I don't think so," he said, "but you will have tickets for the full 3 days."

My excitement had disappeared, I didn't even know what to say. Does he not know that our relationship needs saving? I feel like I ask for the bare minimum and get nothing.

"Babe?" he called.

"Yeah?"

"We're here," he said, "what were thinking about?"

"Nothing," I got out of the car and got up to our apartment.

The rest of the night was spent with him obsessing about the weekend and telling me his whole schedule as well as where I am gonna be during that time. He didn't even care about my lack of excitement and just focused on him.

Ohh please save me from this trip.
