I wake up to little paws kneading my cheek, I look up to see the small face of Midnight as she softly purrs as she sits on my jaw her paws going to work, I smile and she opens her eyes a crack and notices me staring up at her she then loudly, excitedly mews at me and bumps my nose with her head, "Hey girl", I lightly say as I trail my hand from her head to her tail, I smile wider as she leans into my hand as I lightly scratch her chin, I watch as she trys to lie along my arm but instead falls, I quickly rush my hand under her so she falls flat on her back on my palm still purring her little head off, I giggle at her as her paws start kneading the air as I continue to stroke her. After our cuddle session she pushes on my feathers and makes her way through, I look up and watch as she stands at the entrance with her tail high, she looks back at me and squeaks at me as she makes her way over to her bowl, I raise an eyebrow as I move my wing back behind me and head out of the tree, I raise my arms and stretch my body with my wings raised above my head stretching the sleep from them. I look back down to Midnight to see her patiently sitting at her food bowl, I smile down at her as I ruffle my feathers back into place, I crouch down and take the big bag of cat biscuits and open them up, I take a handful of biscuits and drop them into her bowl followed by her head, "Really like your biscuits don't you?" I mutter as I stroke her back, I close the bag back up and push it back to the bars, I slap my lips together and decide to go have a morning drink. I lick my lips of the left over water droplets and look down as Midnight begins to toddle over to me with a big belly, I snicker at her as she tries to climb up the little stone wall to get to the water, I lift her up and she eagerly takes some gulps of water.
"Aaahaha I got youu, ah you got mee", my hand flies back down to Midnight's exposed belly and begins to kick, scratch and bite at my fingers, I giggle until I hear a door open not too far away, I instantly stop and gaze towards the direction, Midnight seems to catch on as she flips over and looks out of the entrance balancing on my shin. Footsteps close in on the cage, then the click of the curtain undoing rings through me, light starts to pour in as the curtain is pulled to the other side of the bars, my tail begins to twitch, "Morning Jasabelle, Midnight", he says to us both, I stare at him remembering last night's conversation, I blink as I realise he's waiting for a response, "Morning", I quietly say, he seems to accept it as he beams at me and heads towards the kitchen, my belly rumbles as the smell of fresh meat wafts its way to my nose, I look down to see if Midnight could smell it, I roll my eyes at her as I realise my twitching tail has caught her attention. I look up and watch as Osiris comes over with three bowls, two which I know are mine and one for Midnight, I watch as he crouches down and opens the little door for the dishes, my tail begins to twitch again, he puts the dishes in and sits down at the bars with his legs crossed with a bag in his lap, I look down just in time to see Midnight dive at my tail, she almost disappears within my fur as she begins to wrestle with it, I purposefully lift it as she dangles still gripping onto my fur. I look up as Osiris starts digging into the bag, he pulls out a full size walnut, my eyes fly open at the delicacy, he notices and holds his hand out with the walnut in his palm, I look up and start making my way over still feeling Midnight on my tail, I hesitate but quickly grab the walnut and sit down as I quickly crack it open with my teeth sending bits of walnut and shell going into my lap, I look up at Osiris as I start popping bits of previous walnut in my mouth, "I need to tell you something, a decision I've decided to make", he gazes at my knees littered in walnut shell, I flick my tail at him and I feel Midnight quickly launch herself back onto my tail, I raise an eyebrow at him willing him to continue, "I'm absolutely against human slavery but there is no other way to get my daily things done without one as I'm busy with you at the moment", I knit my eyebrows together at him, he flicks his gaze to behind me as a thud sounds from behind me, I look over my wings and to Midnight actively jumping and chasing my tail around, I quickly scoop her up earning a squeak from her and settle her in front of her wet food, she quickly starts eating as I look back up at Osiris who is staring intently at me, "And he's arriving today", he finishes, I slowly nod my head as I look down slowly chewing a bit of walnut, I pick through the shells to find no more edible peices, "But, if your against it, why basically support it", I ask as I look up to him going through the bag again and retrieve another walnut and hold it out to me, I quickly grab it and shake my feathers out from the anxiety of being so close to him, "It's the only way, and I won't be abusing him I probably won't even touch him, I hope you two get along though", I look up at him surprised, get along? I look down at Midnight as she licks her bowl clean, "I wouldn't mind", I rush out and crack the walnut open, I flinch as Osiris abruptly gets up and stands back giving me some room, "I'll be back", he quickly says as he rushes out through the kitchen, looks like I'll be getting another new friend soon then, I quickly swallow down the rest of the walnut and lean over to the bowls in front of me. I pick out a thawed goats leg and scurry back to the entrance, it takes me about five minutes to neck down the leg not leaving any fur or hoof behind, I go back to the bowl and finish with a juicy pear. I look down at Midnight's biscuit bowl to find it empty, "Jeez you can eat", I mutter as I fill her bowl up yet again, I look behind me to see her bolt out the bush and straight to her bowl, I shake my head as I push the bag back, Osiris comes through into the main room and goes towards the front door, I watch as he slips on his coat and straightens it out, he glances over at me and smiles, something passes through his eyes as he digs around his pocket and gets out some sunflower seeds, he comes over and holds out his palm but by the bars, I lean forward and sniff towards the seeds, I've never had sunflower seeds before, I huff as I realise that to get them I'm going to have to scoop them out of his hand. I tentavily reach my hand through and scoop some out my finger just grazing his palm which sends a painful feeling through my hand which makes me cringe, I see him tense and then confusion roll through him, I sit back down and start to pick them out of their shells, "It only happens when my other is quite far away, it's a reaction", I explain as I see that he hasn't left, I hear him hum in thought and then heads back to the door, I look up as I chew on the seeds to see him disappear through the door, I look down at the sunflower seeds, they are surprisingly nice. After relieving myself and playing with Midnight for a bit I go back to my food bowl and pick out raw quail eggs and a goose egg, I go back to the entrance and pop a quail egg into my mouth and crack it open, my mouth then fills with the fluid and I gulp it down leaving the shell behind in between my teeth, I grind the shell up into a gooey mess and head over to the water, I take a mouthful of water and swallow it down, I do the same with the other quail egg. I go back to the entrance and puncture a hole through the goose egg and tip the contents down my throat, I chew on the shell and swallow it down with water again, I turn around to see Midnight huddled into the corner sound asleep, I lightly stroke her between the ears and head out. I fly up to the window and get comfy on the window sill and gaze out at the field, my tail twitches as I spot a rabbit jumping out with a miniature version of itself trailing behind it.
After a while I snap my head up as my eyes pins towards the upcoming car, Osiris is back. I sit up as I see him drive behind the house and out of sight, I look down towards the door as I hear hushed footsteps coming up towards it, I curl my tail around as the door opens and Osiris waltzes in followed by a timid looking boy, he looks to be younger than me no more than sixteen. I silently watch from my perch as he stops midway and gapes at the interior, "Like it?" I hear Osiris ask as he puts his coat up and goes to the kitchen, I see the boy wander into the middle of the room, I pin my wings to my back an cower down as I watch him look towards the cage, his eyes light up as he crouches down and extends his hand, I look down as Midnight wanders out slightly puffy at the tail staring at the boy, "Hello kitty", he says a broad smile stretched onto his thin lips, she then begins to look around and starts to yowl out, my instincts tell me to call back to her but I stay silent, the boy watches as she goes behind the bush and starts to yowl louder, my insides churn at the crys but I watch the boy as he stands and comes towards the bars, they aren't big enough to fit a baby through because if they were I'd be able to get out. He looks into the food bowls then to the tree, he then casts his gaze upwards to the top of the tree and I catch his eye, he looks up at me his eyes fly wide open, his fear hits me in waves, I cock my head at him as his breathing gets faster, I blink at him and look away and let my tail dangle beside me, I ruffle my feathers as I hear the kitchen door open, I flick my gaze over my shoulder to see Osiris come out with a plate of food, he noticeably slows down as he nears the boy, he flicks his eyes up to me then back to the boy, "I see you have met Jasabelle", he says as he settles the plate on a side table, I look down as Midnight is scraping her paws at the wall trying to reach me and lightly meowing up at me. I hear the rustle of a bag and snap my eyes to Osiris getting out a few walnuts, my eyes light up, I open my wings but freeze when the boy gasps and falls to the floor looking up at me in horror, I slowly close them and dangle off the windowsill and softly land on the floor. I walk around the tree and go towards the bars, Osiris holds out a walnut and I swiftly take it, as I'm eating the walnut I notice the boy watch me with wander and lean forward, I crouch down and look through the bits of shell to make sure I haven't missed any. I look up as Osiris holds a walnut out to the boy, he stares at his hand and looks back toward me, "She's friendly, she is more or likely to attack me then you", he gently says, he slowly takes the walnut and starts to stand, I look over my shoulder to see Midnight pounce on my tail again, I roll my eyes as I look back towards the boy, he slowly holds out his hand outside of the bars the walnut slightly shaking from his nerves, I lean forward and reach towards the walnut and lightly scoop it out of his hand. I hear him laugh as I crack it open, "Wow", he quietly whispers as I finish up the walnut.
The rest of the day consisted of the boy doing various tasks for Osiris and occasionally glancing over at me, Osiris has took my bowls away as soon as I ate the rest of the fruit ready for tomorrow. I look up from the top of the tree to see Osiris watching the boy go through the kitchen, he then stands and heads over to me, he gives me a tired smile as he goes towards the curtain and unclips it, "Goodnight Jasabelle, Midnight wherever she is", he says as he looks at me, "Night", I quietly reply, he nods and starts to pull the curtain over, I stand with Midnight asleep in my arms as he clips it to the other side, I look around as my night vision settles in and lightly land on the ground, I crouch down and go into the entrance and settle down into a fetal position with my tail tightly wrapped around me serving as a pillow for me, my wing drapes over me as I settle Midnight onto my tail which she gladly snuggles into, my eyes droop closed as I think of the day ahead.
