33. Trespassers

I suddenly wake as I hear the door creak open, I sit upright and fold my wings back in, Midnight stumbles from my lap with a yawn, I step out to see Danny at the entrance with a glass of water,
"Thought you'd like a drink", she says as she walks towards me with we hand outstretched, I gladly take it and swig it down,I finish with a lick of my lips,
"Are you not scared of me?" Her eyebrows rise at my question,
"Well I was at first but when I saw how Penny was with you it quickly disappeared", she confesses as I slowly nod,
"Anyway it's time for you to explore the farm and get to know everywhere but my dad would like to speak to you first, I got to go sort out Penny anyway", she smiles as she leads the way to the house.
I look towards the front porch to see the man and woman again, I walk up the steps towards them,
"Had a good sleep?" The man says, I gaze up at him and nod, he smiles at me in acknocklegdment,
"Right the rules", he stops as I flicks my wings out at the sound of the toddler crying from upstairs, he tilts his head,
"Oh, I can hear Penny", I quickly say urging him to go on,
"Ok so your main job on the farm is to keep any predators or trespassers away from the animals and the house, we get quite a few come through here and it's becoming increasingly dangerous for us and the animals, and another job is to hunt wild rabbits or deer for us just so we can stay stocked up, oh and everytime you warn off a trespasser I need you to report back to me so I can get the police on their back, anything else I need to explain?" He asks as I slightly lean against the post and shake my head, he nods and looks towards the field,
"Well go on then you know where the territory stops right?" I nod again and he holds his hand out allowing me to explore, I beam up at him as my wings half unfold, I quickly mutter a thank you and push off the porch and into the sky, I go high into the sky and begin to glide around pinning my eyes around the fences and anything that moves, I get to the edge of the fence and slowly follow it along keeping just above the trees, I halt in place going into a hover and land on a branch in a tree, I take quick breaths smelling the air and look down at the scent of urine, I then hear voices and snap my head towards the sound of a group of boys quietly laughing, I soar into he air again and dive bomb through the trees and land just in front of the boys into a crouch with my wings outstretched.
A startled cry leaves some of the boys as they stare at me, I bring my head up to take a good look at them, they were just inside the fence so that meant they were trespassing, I let my eyes glow a brilliant green as I speak up letting my canines show,
"Your trespassing", I snap out, they flinch at my words there faces filled with horror,
"W-we were j-just-" I cut the boy off with a growl,
"No excuses", I growl out and stand upright and half fold my wings in with my tail swishing about wildly, I point behind them to where a sign stands with the words no trespassing etched into it,
"There's a sign next time read it and don't come across this fence again, you've been warned there won't be another", I warn them as they all start to visibly shake with fear fuelling my anger towards them, I step towards them one of them and he lets out a whimper as they stagger back,
"Now. Go", I slowly say with an undertone of a growl lingering, they all hesitate before they bolt towards the fence and struggle to climb over it, then they disappear through the trees. I hum in satisfaction as I reopen my wings and take off to the house.
I look towards the porch to see Penny and Danny with a bunch of plastic toys, I touch down startling them both. I stand upright as a squeal sounds out, I roll my eyes as I look down at Penny with her arms outstretched towards me squealing with delight and bouncing on her feet, I start going up the steps and she grabs onto my leg,
"Up, up, up", she says in her little baby voice, I giggle as I bend down and pick her up, I slide her over on top of my wings, I slightly fold them in serving as a back rest and seat for her so she doesn't fall. Danny starts shaking her head as I look back at her,
"Do you know where your dad is", I ask as I puff my feathers up sending Penny into another round of giggles,
"Yeah he's inside go on in", I nod and turn around so she can take the giggly child, as soon as she leaves my wings she starts to scream with protest and I quickly make my way inside into the main living room, the man and woman both look up as I enter,
"Oh hello you ok?" The woman says with a kind smile, I nod and look towards the man,
"I caught a group of boys within the fence, safe to say they won't be coming back anytime soon", the man visibly stiffens beside his wife as he gazes over at me, he nods and stands with his phone in hand.

Before the police came I wrote down what each of the boys looked like and quickly went out before they arrive.
I'm currently sat on the lone tree on the hill watching as the police leave the houses with the woman and man then they start looking around I suppose for me, then the police leave. After a while of looking, listening and smelling the air occasionally, I watch as Mr lanction kisses his wife goodbye and starts to walk down the driveway, I follow him with my eyes until he rounds off out of sight behind the barn, I quickly soar off towards the barn and lightly touch down and look over to him go off into a corner shop on the side of the road, I jump down with a light thud and trace his steps towards the shop, I go up to the front and look around, I look through the window to Mr lanction waving me inside, I take in a breath as I slowly walk inside to see some teenagers at the counter,
"Here she is", he says proudly to the teens who are all staring at me with curious eyes,
"Oh wow, I've only seen pictures of them but not in real life", a cocky looking boy says, he starts to swagger towards me and I pin my eyes at him he doesn't take his eyes off my curves as he keeps on trekking forward,
"I wouldn't do that if I were you", Mr lanction wearily says to the boy, he takes no notice as he outstretches his hand towards my hips, I swiftly flash my wings out with a growl making the boy fall back with fright, Mr lanction starts laughing as he scoots away, I fold my wings back in as I look at the man,
"You may go", I quickly turn and head out the door, stupid teens don't know what's good for them.

After a few hours of sitting in the tree I head back to the porch to find some veggies and raw bacon and steak, good enough. I quickly munch down on the veggies and take the handfuls of meat and head back to the tree.
I just finish my meal when I hear something rattling against the treeline, I lick the remaining blood from my finger and look behind me to see brown fur of movement just along the trees going towards the pasture that I know the cows are in, I smell the air to find it musky.
I quickly take off into the air and quietly glide around the animal, I look up to see the cows are still grazing nearby, I look around the trees as I catch a glimpse of it going through a gap in the trees, I widen my eyes at the huge bear now slowly stalking a cow still oblivious to its presence, I quickly back wing upwards and soar down towards it, it looks up at the last second as I land my teeth into its skull, it doesnt make a sound as it goes limp underneath me. I bring my head up with blood dripping down my face as a soft pant begins, I stay crouched on top of it and look towards the cows, they have now scattered further down the pasture, I sigh as I look down at the bear.
I maneuver off of it  and dig my claws into the back of its neck and it's throat, I get a good grip and begin batting down as I carry the carcass towards the house, they may as well make a meal out if it, I get about half way until I feel the skin of the bear tear a little, I look towards the house to see Danny run Penny inside and fetch her mum and dad, I get just by the porch and start to descend, I let it fall as I touch down and bend over with my hands on my knees breathing heavily,
"Oh wow thank you Belle", they all say to me,
"Well it was either your cow or this bear", I shrug as they begin to chain it up to their truck.
The next hour consisted of watching the farmers butcher the bear into little pieces until they can fit it all into bags, they have a bag of bones that they toss aside for me, they take all the meat in just as it's starts to get dark out, I look up and start to stretch my wings,
"Thanks for today Jasabelle", Mr lanction says to me as he hurries inside with the bag of bones, I sigh as I go to the barn to check on Midnight, she is sound asleep with a full bowl of water and food next to her, I fly back to the tree and settle down listening for any more intruders or predators as I fall into a light sleep.
