13. They're Back

My eyes snap open in alarm at the familiar sound of helicopter blades not too far away, I jump out of bed and rush to the window to see a helicopter in the distance then It stops and slowly lowers in front of the pack house until I can no longer see it.
My breathing and heart goes frantic at the sight of the helicopter, they have finally come for me, what now?

I hear the door slam open and in runs a frantic Treyton he sees me in a slight crouch and begins to speak,
"Sorry there was no time to knock you got to go, now! Go to the lake I will come to you once I've got more information", he says as he pushes me out the door, I cringe at the contact but think nothing of it.
I make my way to the back door and rush my way out to be greeted by Max running over, I nod as we both unfold our wings and take off to the sky.

We touch down at the lake, we give each other a knowing look that we might not make it out of they find us.
I sit by the lake and splash water on my face and look down in the water at my reflection, I have significantly changed since I first got kidnapped, my hair has gotten thicker and I've filled out a bit as well,
"I just want to make something clear", Max says from behind me, I twirl around to face him, he looks like he's grieving or just very nervous,
"Whatever happens we are going to make it back here and we are not going to be sold, or even worse", He says as his voice wavers.
I nod in understanding as he stands and walks to the treeline and takes a lungfull of air, I turn back to the water and take a big sigh which makes the water ripple a tiny bit from the force of my breath.
"Belle!" Max shouts urgently I stand and turn around as he gestures for me to get in the tree he has gotten into, I follow and land on a branch too high, I crane my neck down to him,
"Whats-" I then smell them, gunpowder.
I hear someone crashing through the trees, a wolf appears out of the trees and skids to a stop into the clearing, he looks around and he shifts back into human form.
I gasp as I quickly look away, I hear Trey chuckle as he pulls on some shorts.
"Typical wolf", I hear Max mutter under his breath, Trey comes over to us as he does a knowing smirk in my direction,
"Liked the view?" He says which earns a scoff from max,
"Anyway the soldiers are sweeping through the rainforest but we got some wolves trailing after them so we know where they are headed so we can warn you", he says as a few more wolves can be heard sprinting our way.
I look in their direction and see them running to us in human form after a pause not too far away,
"The soldiers are coming straight to you someone let slip to them where you are", one of the men rushes out as he gasps for breath.
I curse as I run my hand through my loose hair, I could guess who,
"Move they are here!" Max quickly nudges me as he opens his wings and takes off, I look through the trees to see a group of armed soldiers making their way towards us, I open my wings and take off making the tree wobble, I get just above them when my heart stops,
"Up ahead! Shoot!" I hear a booming voice shout, I fly higher and higher to avoid the darts that fly past me.

Wait, darts?

I start flying towards the pack house when I suddenly get dizzy, I shake my head to make it pass. I look down and the trees below me start to swirl out of control, then I start falling and realise my wings have gone numb I try to gasp but then my vision turns black.

The familiar sound of a helicopter jolts me awake, I feel my eyes open to find I'm on a gurny type thing with two soldiers on either side of me,
"We're gonna be rich tonight boys!" A hail of laughter and cheers soon follow as one of the soldiers announce my capture.

I look down to see I'm tied to the metal stand that the mattress I'm laying on is on, this is just too easy. I unsheath a claw and start to cut away at my bindings on either side of me. I successfully get them off and slowly reach over to my feet and start doing the same.
As soon as I get them off a soldier does a double take and shouts for the others, they all turn to me as I move back and slip my tail out of its little restraint, I hiss at them giving them a warning that will soon be a threat if they carry on.
"Woah, guys it's not even human anymore", one of the soldiers say I snarl at him in response.
"What do you mean?" They all gaze at me flicking their eyes to eachother,
"Just look at it it's a wild animal now",
I quickly push one of them out of the helicopter while they are talking and take them off guard, I quickly jump out as one grabs a bit of my fur and they are tugged out of the helicopter as I begin lift off.

I look around while gliding slowly over the trees trying to find out where I am, I have no clue where I am.
I see a big stone or cliff it could be either so I go over and land on top of it, I look around at the side and notice that there is an entrance. I jump down and look at the inside still on edge from nearly being sold or killed, something feels off so I turn around ready to fly back off when I'm met by four people in ragged clothing and dirt covered skin, they smelt worse than they look. I quickly open my wings which startles them and take off not wanting a fight.

I'm flying for about fifteen minutes when I notice familiar terrain, I quickly make my way to the pack house.
I land on the balcony and go through the doors to see the surprised faces of Trey, Mason and Ethan, he just had to be here.
"Are you ok? Let me take you back to your cabin", Trey rushes out as he leads me out with his hands on the small of my back, I just let him lead me as I'm too tired to fight.

I flop down onto the sofa and hang my head back to look up at the ceiling, Trey comes over a bit too cautiously for my liking I look at him questoningly,
"When you were took by the soldiers some more people came back for the others so they took them too", he says all with sincerity.
I cast my eyes down at the thought of Max and Lizzy getting taken, a tear rolls down my face as I stand and head to my room.
Trey catches me as I collapse mid way in the doorway of my room, he cradles me in his lap as I let out my held back tears, I don't know when I did but I fell asleep in Treys arms from all the exhaustion,fear and now from the deep ache for my lost friends.
