He plays with a long lock of her hair as they both fit in the doorway. He smiles at her, finally meeting her worried gaze. His voice drops so only she can here. "Nothing that happened in Dublin changes because we're here." "Nothing?" She asks, studying his face intently. "Do you mean that?" "Nothing can change what I feel or know." He assures. "And nothing is going to change that last night we shared." Celine bites her lip and looks over at her mother instinctively. Her mother is too busy watching the TV, showing Celine of course, and her competition winning song. She nods. "Not for me either. Nothing changes, Rene." "Not between us." He agrees with a wink before heading out to his car. Celine watches him, and despite that assurance, all she can think about is how few couples survive being apart as often as they will be ... as they are. She licks her bottom lip and crosses her fingers behind her back, sending a silent prayer that they'll get through this week andeverything else. Celine doesn't need experience to know when it's real, not with Rene, not with love. She takes a deep breath, then does the dishes, enjoying the familiar motions before hopping on the plane and heading to tour. After her first night, she's almost surprised that Rene calls. "Hello?" "I'm sure you did wonderfully." His voice eases her nerves and she melts into the strange hotel bed. "I hit some bad notes on the third song, but it made me focus more on the rest. The audience either didn't notice or didn't care.
