No, he doesn't want to rush things, but there is no harm in making himself clear to her parents. One day, he'll ask Celine to marry him and he wants to know where her parents sit with that. Therese's feelings towards him have changed. He's seen it. But he doesn't have the faintest clue what her father, Adhemar, thinks about their relationship. He knows that's just as important. Sure, her brothers don't seem to mind which is a help, and Celine herself is happier than he's ever seen, but ... but he worries that it won't be enough for her parents. When he arrives at the house, Therese opens the door and welcomes him in. "Celine is finishing getting ready. You know her. She puts everything off to the last minute she possibly can." "And yet she never disappoints." Rene chuckles. "I'd actually like to speak to you and your husband if you have a moment to spare me." Therese arches an eyebrow, but leads Rene to the kitchen anyway. Adhemar sits there, enjoying his coffee and his paper. Rene sits, after holding a chair for Therese. Once they are gathered around the small table. Adhemar sets down his paper. "Hello, Rene. What can we help you with." Rene fidgets with a napkin and Therese chuckles as she gently places her hand on Rene's.His eyes flick between the two, not sure how to start this. Therese squeezes his wrist. "Out with it, Rene." "I love Celine. I love her with every bit of my heart and soul. I want to spend every day making her laugh, keeping her happy, making her dreams come true. And I don't want to hide it anymore. I know we have an age difference that some would ... would not like, but it has not mattered to me. Our conversations flow easier than I could have ever expected and she is asimportant to me as the sun in the sky." Therese and Adhemar look at one another. Therese motions for him to continue. Aftersucking in a deep breath, Rene continues. "One day I'd like to ask her to marry me. It won't be tonight, or tomorrow. I know Celine has a lot on her plate right now, but when the day does come, I'd like to know that I have your permission." "You sound very sure." Therese murmurs, no regret or threat in her voice. "I am. My feelings won't be driven away by time or other people. As long as Celine wants me in her life, I'm going to be here, but knowing we have your support is important to both of us." Rene finishes. Therese swallows, opens her mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. A squeakfinally leaves her throat, but then she squeezes her husband's hand and gives one short nod. Adhemar smiles gently and rubs Therese's hand slowly. "We respect you for coming to use first. I know that our daughter loves you truly, not some silly crush. I've never seen her happier than when she's with you and I know that you will dedicate yourself to keeping her safe, happy, and loved." Therese nods. "Just ..." She takes another deep breath. "Promise me that before that day comes and after, you'll take good care of her. Celine is becoming a woman and no one can hide that, but I want to know that she'll be taken care of in the ways that matter – not financially. Love her, forgive her when you fight – because you will -, and be patient with her." "Of course I will. I already do." Rene stands and Therese hugs him. She pats his back as Rene shakes Adhemar's hand. "I mean every word. I will not let my love for Celine fall second  to anything. And as long as we are together, I will treat her with respect, love, and will alwayshave her well being in mind."
