Therese waited to hear the door close before turning to Rene. "That girl wants to be involved in everything." "She loves you dearly." Rene answered. Therese looked him over. A man of his age shouldn't have squirmed under her gaze, but she knew he would. No matter the age, a man interested in her daughter would squirm. They'd know that she could see through every 'innocent' gesture. Still, Rene had done so much for her family without asking for or expecting anything in return. This would be a different conversation from last year even if he seemed just as nervous now as he had then. He cleared his throat. "Therese, after our conversation last year, please know I-"She held her hand up. Rene managed to stay quiet for another moment before his mouth opened again. "If you'd like me to go, I can. I know I've been more involved than you like." She laughed, actually laughed. Therese liked making him squirm. She couldn't lie about that. "No, no. Rene. I wanted to thank you properly." His eyebrow raised and he seemed to process that as Therese relaxed back in her seat.
