"Jean-Pierre invited my family and me to join the event, but unfortunately my family has other plans. I'm looking forward to it." Celine continues, trying to fill the silence and move this forward. "I think I may have to improve my dance skills by then to keep up." Rene laughs with Celine and Denyse. Rene offers her another chair and Celine forces herself to be good. As uncomfortable as this is, she's going to get through it for the sake of necessity and make it as painless as possible for Rene.
Rene
Rene shouldn't have let Denyse in. He realizes it now. All those old worries about someone finding out about him and Celine are back and he can't stuff them down far enough for comfort. Denyse either doesn't notice his shifting or doesn't care. "Rene always starts the ball with a waltz. First me, then with Ann-Renee. After that, everyone joins in. We dance the night away like a fairytale." Denyse sighs, then reaches for Celine's arm. "Last year, there were over three hundred guests. It's the event of the year! The best way to kick things off." "Oh my goodness. If this is a family event, I can of course let-" Celine starts. "You are absolutely coming." Rene says quickly. Before Denyse can start poking, he nods to Celine. "Jean-Pierre would be disappointed otherwise." "Oh yes, of course. I didn't mean to scare you away." Denyse says with a smile that's only half kind. "The more the merrier." Celine nods and spares a glance at Rene with an obvious question there.
